Archaeologists digging in Turkey have found the guardians of the "Gate to Hell" -- two unique marble statues which once warned of a deadly cave in the ancient Phrygian city of Hierapolis, near Pamukkale.

Known as Pluto's Gate -- Ploutonion in Greek, Plutonium in Latin -- the cave was celebrated as the portal to the underworld in Greco-Roman mythology and tradition. It was discovered in March by a team led by Francesco D'Andria, professor of classic archaeology at the University of Salento.

I'll have to check that one out. sounds pretty interesting.

I mentioned the exorcist because a stone idol was shown in the desert at the beginning of the movie. It looked pretty much exactly like the object in this article.

Lukewarm is a worldly phenomenon. Christ is saying he’d rather see intense friends or intense enemies in churches. Lukewarm is harder to get to because they think they are somewhere when they are not.

What they and I were talking about was the pipes. The Romans had built water pipes to the hills and to the hot spring. In his letter to a local church he compared the people with the water. They were both lukewarm. The failed pipes are still there. The city they were talking about and the springs are on a hill that go to the south. To the north are the hills above Ephesus. They removed all the trees from the hill and now they have to go 10 miles from the dock to the new port.

I suppose it’s possible that the Lord alluded to that plumbing system in John’s letter that we call the book of Revelation. I don’t rule such a thing out, and at the same time Christians should be careful of being gullible for the first plausible seeming explanation of something that comes down the pike, and treating it as dogma. That will quickly get you an accumulation of garbage dogma. “Test everything.”

This sounds like natural methane emissions

Actually it was co2. I did not know it could be poisonous.

Check out the toxicity section.

Have you ever seen Hellzapoppin? It's like a live action "Loony Tune" made in the 1940s (with Shemp, Martha Raye, Slim Galliard, Olsen and Johnson, and others).

It was released to DVD in Australia (low budget release, worn print). A better copy came out in England. I think the movie was originally put out by Universal.

You may find it on youtube. I know there are clips. Olsen and Johnson made several movies but I think this is the most over the top one.
