Iran nuclear deal: Saudi Arabia warns it will strike out on its own
The Telegraph ^ | November 25, 2013 | Damien McElroy

Saudi Arabia claims they were kept in the dark by Western allies over Iran nuclear deal and says it will strike out on its own.

A senior advisor to the Saudi royal family has accused its Western allies of deceiving the oil rich kingdom in striking the nuclear accord with Iran and said Riyadh would follow an independent foreign policy.

Nawaf Obaid told a think tank meeting in London that Saudi Arabia was determined to pursue its own foreign and policy goals. Having in the past been reactive to events, the leading Sunni Muslim nation was determined to be pro-active in future.

Mr Obaid said that while Saudi Arabia knew that the US was talking directly to Iran through a channel in the Gulf state of Oman, Washington had not directly briefed its ally.

"We were lied to, things were hidden from us," he said. "The problem is not with the deal struck in Geneva but how it was done."

Does bombing the Iranian Embassy in Beruit count?

Hard to blame the Shiites for that one..

The next president, if we have one, is going to have a helluva mess to clean up after Ozero and Lurch. He or she will have to do an extended world wide “apology tour”.

That is correct. He said if you want Iran not to be a nuclear power then YOU could keep Iran from being a nuclear power. Should have read HIS small print.

Welcome to our world.

Anyone that will have them and their oil and money. But not ours. It is one thing to be stupid and screw things up (our President). It is another to break things so bad they can't be fixed...excepts for the expenditure of many lives further down the line.

>>I’m curious...in whose arms is Saudi going to cuddle, if not Uncle Sam’s ?<<

FYI Saudi helped fund Pakistan’s nuclear program. I read an article that they already have nuclear capable missiles on Saudi soil. Further, Pakistan has set aside some nuclear warheads as payment for Saudi help. For political reasons, they are kept in Pakistan, but can be transferred on short notice to Saudi Arabia.

So in short, they can nuke Iran at will. They can cooperate with Israel. Or strike a deal with any other country that would rather make a friend of Saudi Arabia at the expense of Iran.

Saudi Arabia will look around for either some proxy or the western infidels to attack Iran on their behalf. They are too fat and lazy to fight a war themselves.

In fact, if Saudi Arabia were to experience a real war, it would cause such upheaval, it would likely topple the corrupt, top-heavy Saudi regime itself.

-——Does bombing the Iranian Embassy in Beruit count?-—

Yes but not as much as the dead nuclear scientists, the destruction wrought by Stuxnet, the explosions at Isfahan or the other military facility.

The Iranian nuc has been thwarted by clever and very effective sabotage of key elemental activities. The clandestine assault is more effective than bombs

Obama opted out but the rest of the coalition continues

If they are smart they will not keep us in the loop in the future. We are now not a reliable enough ally to be trusted with such information.

Seems like some countries have found the US under Zero's rule to be less trustworthy than their foremost enemies:

Israeli Officials Knew White House Was Holding Secret Talks With Iran

CAIRO — Israeli officials knew they were being kept in the dark as the U.S. conducted secret talks with Iran, and the knowledge that the White House was “going behind Israel’s back” was one of the key sources of tension between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama, according to a senior Israeli minister and other Israeli officials.

“We did not know from the beginning, but we knew, we had intelligence that these meetings were happening,” said the Israeli minister, who spoke to BuzzFeed by phone from his Jerusalem office. He said that a “friend in the Gulf” shared intelligence with Israel that the meetings were taking place, and urged Israel to find out more. “I would like to say we knew the content of the talks, but we didn’t. What we knew was that the U.S. was choosing not to tell us about them and that was very worrying.”

That “friend,” one foreign ministry official said, was Saudi Arabia, which along with Israel has most strongly objected to the nuclear deal reached between Iran and the West over the weekend.

I remember reading a while back - maybe a year or two ago now - about an Israeli defense official visiting a Saudi airbase. The airbase just happened to be one that would make an excellent refueling and staging point for Israeli jets on their way to/from Iran...

My gut feel - based solely on little tidbits like that and past actions/trends - is this...

The Saudis don't like the Iranians, different sects, different races, Saudis see themselves as the keepers of the faith, Iranians want that title...blah blah.

Saudis also know that if Iran does something stupid to Israel, Israel will turn Mecca and Medina into glass-topped self-lighting parking lots. The Saudis know for all their weapons bought with oil money, they couldn't stop that from happening.

Hence, being practical and viewing the preservation of their holy sights as paramount, they are willing to deal with Israel, even aide Israel. For a little entirely justifiable cooperation they get someone else to take the risks, and they get a thorn removed from their side.

Neither Israel nor Saudi is happy with this foolish Iranian weapons "deal" - neither is so naive as to think Iran will actually stop their weapons program. As they say, the enemy of my enemy is my friend - or at least ally of convenience. So I would not be surprised at all to see an Israeli strike staged through Saudi. Possibly with more than mere logistics support, I could see Saudi making a "statement" to Iran by striking some supporting targets to prove they weren't just being used by the Israelis.

ahahahaha - PERFECT!

Might n ot be a bad idea to learn conversational Russian. They're becoming what we used to be and we're being plunged into muzzie hell.

Putin/Russia is being excoriated for being anti-gay - (he's advocating what we used to: Live your lifestyle without discrimination BUT do not try to push it into our schools or otherwise into OUR lives.

He's also the lead world leader calling for world leaders to come together to the aid of the Christians being slaughtered in muzzie lands - while crickets chirp from the WH.

How things change -Below, the Christian Churches are being rebuilt and the church brought back to prominence as vital for Russia -

Thia is the Cathedral rebuilt in Moscow "The Cathedral of Christ the Savior - the original was destroyed by the Communists.) It can hold 30,000.

Do a google search for 'cathedral moscow' and scroll through the pics of the many beautiful restored churches - like this one:

Putin was baptised as a baby, in secret, by his mother...and has worn a cross his mother gave him as a boy on a trip to Israel - ever since. (Does Russia have a 'closet Christian' as it's leader while we have a 'closet muzzie?"

At the very least - Russia has a MAN for their leader.

The House of Saud has been the main factor in the US foreign policy for decades. They rely on us to fight their wars, in return they keep things in the area at a low boil (not easy).

With the US abandoning Saud and their allies Israel, you will see a realignment.

Heard on the radio on the way home tonight. Bibi said in a news conference that the deal was terrible and that “...we cannot and will not let...” That’s pretty clear. Can not, and will not. If Iran continues, as we know they will in spite of the deal, Israel will take action. Direct, violent, final action. Good luck and good hunting IAF.

AMEN

if ‘bummer thought this was going to be a ‘pick-me-up’ in the polls, it looks like it's failing - even alienated some MORE dems - (not even counting free world leaders)

Meanwhile, Putie, who has been calling for world leaders to come to the aid of the Christians bummers friends are slaughtering in the ME, just had a meeting with the Pope on the subject.

Now if ‘bummer made a move to halt the slaughter of Christians, he'd get some good marks - but even tyquia - however the practice of allowing muzzies to lie to non-muzzies - is spelled, only goes so far. Saving Christians isn't one.
