Maryland to Return to Paper Ballots in 2016.
CBS Baltimore ^ | 11/20/2013 | Pat Warren

The state of Maryland is returning to the paper ballot in 2016.

“When we say `paper ballot,’ what do we mean?” said Linda Lamone, State Board of Elections.

Which brings up the irony and another candidate for the Coburn government waste file.

“Then we have to do a very extensive public outreach because the voters in Maryland have been using a very different voting system,” Lamone said. “We need to make sure people know how to vote when they go to the polls in 2016.”

Yes, the low information voter will have to be trained on how to use something called a "Paper Ballot" and how to use a pencil. Which will require another government stimulus program.

Note to Maryland legislators: Beware the Butterfly Ballot.

Not that it matters, considering it's the People's Republic of Maryland doing the voting. They could count toes, and the result would be the same. But now the Maryland voter will have paper proof of the idiot they voted for.

Anyone know of any other state considering a return to the paper ballot?

Canada counts the entire country on paper ballot, and they never seem to have an issue with it.

There is little point voting in Maryland anymore.

Papar ballots create low skill jobs, just like the good old days.

Should one even be able to vote if one can’t figure out how to use a pencil to mark a paper ballet?? Just to satisfy curiosity, someone should poll those folks to find out how many are democrats and how many are on government assistance. On second thought, a poll really isn’t necessary in order to address that statistic.

Easier to stuff a ballot box with paper ballots.

Our Virginia election this past November used paper ballots in Fairfax County. Scantron.

I have no issue w/ being able to track votes w/ a paper ballot. I like the idea of a scannable ballot w/ a hard copy.

The all electronic voting bothers me...just my suspicious mind worried about the hack factor.

We have all mail in ballots here is the people’s republic of WA state. Heaven forbid that any federal election needed WA state results to decide anything. S L O W counting.

I’m all for it - back to paper ballots AND back to neighborhood polling places. This mail-in voting, along with “motor-voter” registration has done nothing but help the democrats perpetrate mass voting fraud on the American public.

Get up off your lazy arse, get to the polls (on election day, not two or three weeks early so they can have plenty of time to fiddle your ballot), present your voter ID, mark your paper ballot, deposit it in the box, and get your receipt.

This system worked just fine for 200+ years. Oh, and make it so all ballots must be in by the end of election day. No more of this post-marked business. Those who really need absentee ballots receive them far enough ahead of time that there is no excuse to be waiting till the last dog is hung and delaying the results for weeks. That makes it much too easy to “find” the ballots needed that were accidentally forgotten in the trunk of some democrat poll worker’s car.

“Canada counts the entire country on paper ballot, and they never seem to have an issue with it.”

But did your government have to vote for extra funds to pay to teach or re-train you how to use paper ballots and markers?

Were there available outreach programs to help you through the process? Is Canada becoming a permanent low information society like the U.S. I mean you guys have hate speech tribunals for crying out loud. Just ask Mark Steyn.

And Owe’Malley and his cronies will probably also institute 6 month early voting too.

I like paper. As good as computers are, an actual mark on a real piece of paper seems more accurate for the important stuff.

Not that the libs won’t cheat anyway.

Ditto! Also, the ballot “registration” (not the actual cast ballot) should also ideally be REQUIRED to have the voters’ index fingerprint placed upon it. Way too many votes being cast by individuals who are not the actual registered voter—even with “voter ID” (which the ‘rats will manufacture in some cases and just falsely say they’ve seen in MANY other cases). Even with paper ballots, in the “Obama precincts” of places such as Philadelphia, massive voter fraud will continue.

The problem is going to be the city of Baltimore. They will have a hard time finding people that will do the job and in addition, can count.

I have to concur after a recent discussion with the owner of a Baltimore delicatessen who told me of her fruitless search for literate employees.

First things first: this is not an excerpt. There is some quoting and then lots of commentary interspersed. One must link to read the actual article.

As for the idea we return to paper, hallelujah!

Next we need to get rid of early voting, the very sign of banana republic.

I think I like it, but I don’t trust the MD political powers. What is their motivation?

I never could figure out what was wrong with the old machines that had the levers.

When I went to your link I did not see roughly the last half of what you have posted for this piece. Is that your editorializing?
