It’s time for Barack Obama to walk the walk instead of just flapping his gums.

He needs to set an example and submit to the same background check that any citizen must in order to buy a gun, and then explain why he failed.

I know that will never happen, and I’m a racist for suggesting it.

Seriously, *any* Republican who votes in favor of this should be kicked out of not just their seat, but the party. Not because of the issue, but because of mental incapacity. Seriously, the only excuse is brain damage. The represent the potential of harm to themselves or others. They need to be in a nursing home.

Yes, Cruz is out on point in the Senate.

The ComDems had best tread lightly around him, he is certainly capable.

The good thing about Cruz is that he is very principled, and I don’t think that will ever change. I think we can put our trust in him.

Another law that will most likely land up in the fed courts.

We should roll back the existing background checks. The check, if any, should be on the person and should only show that the person is eligible to purchase a firearm (if we even keep that much of a check). The check should not produce a record on whether the individual purchased a firearm or even a record of whose eligibility was checked.

And just check everyone, or large numbers of people, so there's no information in the fact you went through the check. Do it with DL renewals and print it on your license like some states do with cigs/alcohol, so you don't have to carry another piece of paper.

Realistically speaking, you and I will never see a single round of that ammunition, while all the “wrong” people will be getting their hands on as much as they can carry. It’s happening while we speak. Uncle Sam’s inventory sprouts legs and walks out of storage depots and warehouses unaccounted for every day. That’s why it is critically important we not let things get to the point where we’re forced to forage for food, and scavenge ammo from the enemy.

Think hairy screeds rules change won't matter?

I don't think the rule change applies to regular legislation. At least, not yet.

I think federal firearms regulation hinges on the Commerce Clause. Regulating private transactions would invite a challenge.

No “background check” should ever include a weapon serial number or even the type of weapon. That is a huge overreach, well beyond the scope of appropriate government intrusion into a fundamental God-given and constitutionally protected right.

I guess the recall elections in Colorado and the mayors leaving Bloombergs group were not a clear enough sign of the public mood for those in the Beltway.

They too will gain an understanding. Personally, while I oppose almost all new gun control laws, it could be really good for Republicans if the Democrats tried this in DC, especially the Senate. It would really mobilize the grassroots and NRA for the Nov 2014 elections. People would have multiple strong issues ObamaCare, economy/jobs, IRS, NSA, Fast & Furious, gun control, EPA, etc.

“Congressional gun-control advocates are preparing to take another run at expanding background checks on those looking to purchase firearms.”

These daffy, Leftist constitution-bashers never quit.

“That’s why it is critically important we not let things get to the point where we’re forced to forage for food, and scavenge ammo from the enemy.”

Completely agree. That’s why it’s critical that arms manufacturers be enticed to move operations to patriot blue states. (I refuse to use the media’s designations of state colors.)

I disagree with you that armaments will not be available to citizen militias when TSHF. After Kaddhafi ordered his army to fire on Libyan civilians in 2011, about 75% of the army refused to follow his orders. The troops cleaned out the armories and headed back to their respective provinces to protect their families. Once there, they joined up with the provincial militias and attacked Kaddhafi’s elite mercenary army, wiping them out over a period of several months. The arms used came from Libya’s armories.

These “Momentum Is Building” articles are nearly always some reporter’s wishful thinking. If this one wants to find out about “momentum” he might give gun grabber Evie Hudak a call in Colorado. She’s got some time on her hands all of a sudden.

They need a bill already in the pipeline so that they can act quickly if the opportunity arises.

You know, if just by chance, there is some big, coincidental "incident" (cough..false flag...cough) which they can use as a vehicle for gun control legislation.

The legislation pending in the House requires that background checks on gun purchasers be required at gun shows and in similar settings.

They keep talking about the "gun show loophole", but it's really about requiring checks (and thus registration) on ALL private sales and transfers. They want ALL private transfers to result in a federal database record. Including you giving your children your guns when you get old.
