HealthCare.gov Team Working Through Thanksgiving Holiday To Meet Deadline
NPR ^ | 11/29/2013 | Elise Hu

Besides movie theaters and Wal-Mart, one place that will stay open this Thanksgiving is the new HealthCare.gov "exchange operations center." Staffers on the "tech surge" to fix the error-riddled site have just days to meet the Obama administration's self-imposed deadline for a functioning site.

The pledge came from the president, the vice president, the Health and Human Services secretary, and the numerous spokespeople that represent them, like White House spokesman Jay Carney. "By November 30th, HealthCare.gov will be working smoothly for the vast majority of users," Carney has said, time and time again.

But the definition of working smoothly varies, and the metrics are far from transparent. So judging whether the administration meets his deadline will depend on the experiences of people who share their stories, and the administration's own selectively released numbers.

In the non-descript building at the headquarters of lead contractor QSSI in Maryland, about 30 to 40 members of the post-rollout "tech surge" will be working through the Thanksgiving holiday. After the site failed to work in October — engineers, database architects and contractors from different companies were pulled together to work in one room.

"Imagine a room full of desks, that look like ... those curved desks [at] a NASA control center," says John Engates, chief technology officer for the server and software company Rackspace. He was one of half-dozen technologists invited by the White House to go inside the command center this week, get a briefing on how the tech surge is operating and talk out ways to improve government IT in the future.

"On the walls you have these giant flat-panel monitors [showing] metrics of how the site's doing. Uptime metrics, performance metrics, graphs that show how different aspects of the website are performing in real time," Engates says.

Whether or not you can even call up the website, it will be proclaimed a huge success by the admin, to whom reality means nothing. They have alternate definitions of terms like 'success'...

If the site crashes, it will be because the remaining 200+ million people who didn't have a chance to enroll before, will be jamming the site to sign up...

After all these years of taking our money and giving it to democrat donors... NOW they want to fix it over Thanksgiving.

LOL

if it really does get fixed, it will be worse for them as people see their costs go up hard. And they’ll lose doctors and may have to travel for a long way to see a new one.

Those deductibles are murder.

Signup For Obamacare And Get Free Condoms

Posted 4 hours ago by Dave Jolly Filed under Ethics, Health Care, Liberalism, Morality, ObamaCare

With all of the enrollment problems Obamacare has been having, Democrats are turning to desperate measures in their attempts to get gullible people to sign up.

A group called Living Affected Corporation is a non-profit group working in Arkansas to promote liberal Democratic human rights. According to their website:

Besides movie theaters and Wal-Mart

Do union thugs ever protest the movies?

I wonder who puts the raw numbers in?

So? Just lame “actions” to make it look like the site should work. Phishers and scammers do the same thing.

Has that NOT “Freedom of Speech” law been implemented by the IRS yet? Put this two issue together and we are in SO much hurt. Our days of freedom are numbered.

Republicans, unless “you” start fighting this stuff, I’ll be not be voting at all.

Here’s a laugh. I just went to the Healthcare.gov site. I was on the marketplace individual page.

It asked a question, was this page helpful? I answered “no”.

It asked, how was it not helpful. I chose “too little information”.

The next question was “Was this helpful? What can we do to improve this page?” with a text box. I was going to type “Repeal Obamacare, but I was unable to type in the text box. It would not accept any characters.

So their suggestion/complaint box is broken. I wonder why?

Could it be FULL???

Not trying to defend Healthcare.gov, but making an edittext box editable/writeable is just a matter of turning on a flag to “true”.

Try it again next month...

Of course it should be easy to fix this. But the fact that something as simple as an edit box ISN'T working just underscores the shoddy way this site is being assembled. Even worse, it suggests it's not being tested. Which begs the question, "if something so simple as an edit box isn't working, how can you trust the important stuff to work?" You know, stuff like security, financial reimbursement, etc.

Yet another neophyte IT project management move guaranteed to be a collosal failure.

Only Dummycrats could protest Wal-Mart forcing employees to work on a holiday weekend during the biggest shopping weekend of the year while insisting that tech geeks work the same holiday weekend to save Obambicare.
