WILC To Pick Up WTNT's Talkers (D.C. talk radio)

DCRTV hears that Laurel's WILC, 900 AM, will be flipping to conservative English language talk on January 1st. Taking many of the shows now heard on Northern Virginia's WTNT, 730 AM/102.9 FM, which flips to Spanish contemporary on December 1st. More soon.....

Tomorrow is supposed to be the day when WTNT switches to Spanish Language "Somos La Capital", Solo Exitos ("We are the Capital, Only Hits"). So apparently conservative talk shows will be on Laurel MD's WILC AM 900. Range by DAY:

Oh, good. If they’re going to carry Savage, will that free up WMAL to go back to broadcasting the civilized and astute show if John Batchelor? Before 11 I have to listen to him on IHeart radio since they went to Savage.

I’m expecting Savage to be put into Hannity’s 3-6 slot on WMAL, unless they decide to do a local host. If Savage does replace Hannity, I’ll be spending my afternoon drive with WRC @ 1260 AM and Michael Medved. Although I spend about half of my current drive with Medved instead of Hannity.

Why do you say this? Hannity is annoying but nowhere near as offensive and whacked-out and ugly as Savage. I doubt many afternoon drive listeners would hold still for him.

Hiring a local talent is expensive. They’d rather pay for someone syndicated.

I’m confused by your question. Hannity is definitely leaving WMAL, on or about 1 Jan 2014. If he is not there I won’t be able to listen to him and refuse to listen to an “offensive and whacked-out and ugly as Savage.”

As to my current switching between Hannity and Medved, is because Hannity gets too repetitious in his comments and his, to me annoying habit of talking over the guests he has on, especially if he disagrees with them. I also listen to WTNT talk radio, but that is changing to Spanish Music on Monday, thus no more political talk there.

I’m sorry for the confusion. I didn’t realize that there were already plans for Hannity to leave WMAL.

No problem. And quite an obvious reaction being you hadn’t heard that Hannity’s radio show is ending its run on WMAL due to the entire Cumulus/whomever radio syndication thing. WMAL has been running ads that Rush Limbaugh is staying on it in his regular noon to 3pm slot.

At least I can go to WASH or WGMS and get Christmas music after WTNT goes non-talk radio

Looks like I’m right at the edge of their broadcast area, but I’ll never find them. The LED on my car radio doesn’t work.
