Feed the world for what? one meal maybe? and the greatest works of western art will be in some rich sheiks palace or mark Zuckerbergs mansion. The vatican barely breaks even on the upkeep of that art.

He Ought to Run For President’

Why not? He wasn't born here either.

Wait and see his next move.

Jesus and Joseph, Peter and Andrew, James and John, Joseph of Arimathea, Paul, were carpenters, fishermen, metal trader, tentmaker, resp., and capitalists.
Gimme a break-
This pope would condemn all the above, especially Joseph of Arimathea, a very rich capiltalist.

The Pope can no more sell off the Vatican than I can sell the White House. I am starting to wonder about his statements though. Bill Donahue says he is. Good man and I trust the Don.

Post of the day. I wish someone would have made that response on TV. :)

” It’s almost as if he is saying, ‘with all the intelligence and brainpower in the world today, it’s hard for me to understand why things are getting worse instead of better.’”

You have to go by what he did say, not what he almost said, or something similar to what he said.

Krauthammer based his opinion on what he did and does say. I agree with him, the Pope is a liberal democrat.

Eh, once again Kraut is a few donuts short of a dozen. The pope is a true believing, revolution lusting communist and that is why he is there.

Born and brought up Catholic, educated at a Jesuit college (one where the one of the Berrigan Brothers used float down the corridors. Am respectful of many of the good works the Church does.
I have a relative who lives near Memphis and who I visit periodically. Every so often a Catholic Church near him places crosses on their property to call attention to the number of abortions that take place.
I live in upstate New York in a diocese that has had numerous priest accused, confess and/or convicted of molesting altar boys. The then Bishop of the Diocese. who is still in place, covered up the offenses and moved these pedophile priests from parish to parish to keep their offenses secret. Many Bishops did the same.
I suggest that the Pope and the Church clean up its own stables, something they surely know a great deal about, FIRST AND PRIMAILY.
Perhaps the Pope should learn more about secular governments and the NGO: their wasteful, incompetent and dishonest practices before he lectures us, the people .....it is the secular governments and the NGO that have, after all, taken over all the means (Taxes and tax shelters)and all the charity “works” that used to be provided by the Church and the direct charity of the Rich.

To be fair, the Catholic Church should ride itself from taking goods from countries treasures that were poor from the beginnings .

Sell all their property around the World including the Vatican and it's Planes, Cars and Opulence

Charles, you know it’s easier for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven than for a pro-lifer to get the Democrat nomination.

How long did it take the Romans to figure out that it isn’t smart to attack the Pope?

RE: Krauthammer based his opinion on what he did and does say. I agree with him, the Pope is a liberal democrat.

Any HONEST individual would be wise to hold off all comments and at least READ the text before he makes his conclusions. It can be found here:

http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/francesco/apost_exhortations/documents/papa-francesco_esortazione-ap_20131124_evangelii-gaudium_en.pdf

Now, here’s my challenge to those whose first instinct is to shoot of their mouths ( or keyboards as the case may be )...

Search the entire text and tell me if you find the word “capitalism” in it.

Come on.... DO IT.

As for the Pope being a liberal Democrat, since when did he endorse abortion and gay marriage?

“As for the Pope being a liberal Democrat, since when did he endorse abortion and gay marriage?”

He said it was time for the church to stop worrying so much about social issues like that.

RE: He said it was time for the church to stop worrying so much about social issues like that.

Yes, and he actually shows what he stood for by EXCOMMUNICATING an Australian Priest who advocated gay marriage.

http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/news/2013/09/27/pope-francis-excommunicates-australian-priest/

Between what he allegedly said (which people will misunderstand) and what he actually does, I’ll take the latter thank you.

“Yes, and he actually shows what he stood for by EXCOMMUNICATING an Australian Priest who advocated gay marriage.”

So you’re saying that as long as you don’t actively promote queer marriage or open an abortion clinic those issues don’t matter?

Perhaps you’re a liberal too?

Shows a level of incredible stupidity. Pope Francis castigated unbridled consumerism or unfettered capitalism. Regardless of political stripe does anyone here approve of insider trading? crony capitalism? The shenanigans of Bernie Madoff? the currency manipulations of Soros? The $10B pornography industry? This is the golden calf of capitalism as opposed to free markets which no Pope including Francis, has ever opposed.

The problem is that the Pope thinks that we have unfettered capitalism when it's actually government control that dominates. Read his remarks.

(Excerpt)

The Pope seems to be dangerously naive and ignorant about the current levels of government control.
