At least they’ll put it into a parking orbit until they can verify the accuracy of it.

Just refreshed and copied off of page. Have no idea if they burned and stage properly. Actually I am finding the Chinese coverage method humorous. The lengths they go through to avoid bad publicity is mind boggling.

As those in the U.S. government sit around conference tables figuring out how to gain even more control over us and loot what’s left of our money/savings.

From spaceflightnow.com:

The Yutu rover, mounted on a stationary rocket-powered landing platform, will touch down on the moon Dec. 14. If it makes it, the Chinese mission will be the first spacecraft to achieve a soft landing on the moon since 1976.

The lunar landing mission is named Chang’e 3, the third Chinese lunar probe following a pair of orbiters launched in 2007 and 2010.

Packed with a ground-piercing radar, cameras, spectrometers and plutonium-powered heaters, the rover lifted off at 1730 GMT (12:30 p.m. EST) Sunday from the Xichang launching base in southern China’s Sichuan province. Launch occurred at 1:30 a.m. Beijing time Monday.

The 185-foot-tall Long March 3B rocket ignited its eight hydrazine-fueled first stage and booster engines and climbed away from its mountainous launch pad, shedding the liquid-fueled boosters and first stage a few minutes later.

A hydrazine-fueled second stage and hydrogen-fueled third stage were expected to propel the Chang’e 3 lander on a direct four-day trajectory to the moon, where it will brake into orbit Dec. 6.

Based on this and the previous entry translunar injection has been successful with the trip taking about 4.66 days to reach the Moon.

China is going to land a man on the moon in most of our lifetimes.

If the U.S. doesn’t stiffen its spine and learn to respect intelligence over grifting there is going to be chaos in the Pacific.

By the time the Chinese are on the Moon we’ll be on Mars (if Fedzilla doesn’t interfere).

Mars One is a non-profit organization that plans to establish a permanent human colony on Mars by 2023. The private spaceflight project is led by Dutch entrepreneur Bas Lansdorp, who announced plans for the Mars One mission in May 2012.[1]

Mars One claims that in 2022, four carefully selected applicants will then be launched in a Mars-bound spaceflight to become the first residents on Mars, and that every step of the crew’s journey will be documented for a reality television program that will broadcast 24/7/365.

“[2:02]Chang’e 3 will set up a telescope on the moon first time in human history, observe the plasmasphere over the Earth and survey the moon surface through radar.”

Why the US hasn’t put an optical or at least a radio telescope on the Moon befuddles me. Now the Chi-Coms are ahead of us in this respect.

Good thing they are building a moon base.

Have they already negotiated a lease? The US has claimed that territory by planting the flag there (not Mars) It should be quite expensive.

Or did the peanut farmer give that away too?

I would not be surprised if the reason the space shuttle was scrapped is that we do have the means of space transport that will be kept top secret for years to come.

Either that, or the Communist secret agent man wanted to destroy our space program.

The U.S. should of had a small exploration base with an optical/radio observatory on the lunar surface decades ago...

The government should have started giving *major* tax incentives/cuts to the private aerospace industry years ago.

It's insane...All this while the U.S. governemnt mismanaged us into cesspool of endless debt to the Communist Chinese, while looting the American treasure, all while inviting the entire their world into our country.

These idiots are too GD stupid or self centered to realize this planet and it's resources, and in fact our star have a shelf life.

If the human race plans on surviving into the distant future, they'd better be looking towards that endeavor now, one step at a time.

Or do they even give a damn what happens when they're arrogant narcissistic butts are gone?

Don't mean to disrupt your thread but, but watching the Communist Chinese do this, while our controlling corrupt government loots American citizens and the American treasure, makes me recoil.

I think your “disruption” is fine with me. There are reasons the establishment does not want the public to go to space, the Moon, Mars and beyond.

All they want to do is use collectivism to keep us down.

Think of Gulliver, from “Gulliver’s Travels,” who lands on Liliput after he washes ashore from his shipwreck only to find he becomes a prisoner to a race of tiny people only about 6 inches tall.

I think of the Leftist as a bunch of Liliputians who have America (Gulliver) held prisoner. And if we could see these the Left from a spiritual point of view we would only see them as being about 6 inches tall.

LOL, right.

That's why NASA depends on the Russian Soyuz to shuttle astronauts back and forth, because Amerixan lives need to be risked in Soviet rockets to keep a "secret".
