Where’s Bloomy?

While Gov. Cuomo, NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly and FDNY commissioner Sal Cassano rushed to the deadly Metro-North crash in the Bronx, lame duck Mayor Bloomberg was nowhere to be found.

It took five hours for Bloomberg’s office to tweet: “Thoughts and prayers with those impacted by today’s train derailment. If you are looking for a loved one who was onboard, call 311.”

It’s not known where Bloomberg was on Sunday morning, and City Hall staffers declined to reveal their boss’ whereabouts.

I hear he spends every weekend in Bermuda with armed police officers on detail.

The cops don’t carry them in the day, but I saw them guarding marihuana shipments at night in full uniforms and carrying M-16’s.

He didn’t even call in! He doesn’t need votes in NYC anymore.

I will say, as much as I dislike Andrew Cuomo, he was calm and non-showboating during this tragedy. I can only imagine the meal Christie would have made of this!

Well he can’t use this to steal money from the citizens so I imagine he isn’t too interested.

Bloomberg can’t be bothered with the New Yorkers he was elected to govern; he’s too busy telling every other state in the nation how to manage their stance on firearms.

Actually governing - that’s for the hoi polloi, not aristocrats and would-be dictators.

Where’s Willie Green when we need an explanation of how dangerous public transportation is?

Oh, brother. People dying and you have to turn this into a stupid comment about “public transportation.” My dad fought in WWII (The Big One) and rode a train every day to his lousy job. We could only afford one car - and my mother got that. I happen to think trains - if managed properly, unlike the corrupt and incompetent Metro North - are a wonderful form of transport.

I despise Bloomberg. In fact, I would bet money - if only any one cared - that I was the first on FR to condemn this man. I lived in NYC at the time and knew he was going to be a disaster.

Bloomberg would have shown up if instead of it being a derailment, someone had used a gun, then Bloomberg would have been all over it

Oh, can’t you wait for the new NYC regime? Glad I’m no longer living in the city - but it should be fun to observe my great city sinking down into the 1970s...

I’m not sure what to think about Cuomo. I have a soft spot in my heart for him because I remember seeing him on the news years ago when the Kennedy gal he married ran off on him, left the kids and everything.

He just looked crushed and devastated; very hard to hate him after seeing that.

He’s not the biggest jerk in politics, let’s just put it that way. (I set the bar low, no?)

It is not fair to assume it is his fault he is not there. Most of the time politicians are just in the way at the first stages of an emergency. Then again he could have got food poisoning eating thanksgiving left overs that were no properly stored and is sitting on the can with projectile vomiting and marathon diarrhea.
