Mitch McConnell: Time for GOP Establishment to 'Stand Up to' Tea Party
Breitbart.com/Big-Government ^ | 12-1-2013 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 12/01/2013 5:38:12 PM PST by servo1969

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican up for re-election in 2014, told the Washington Examiner in an interview published Friday that he believes it is time for the GOP establishment to stop conservatives and Tea Partiers.

McConnell argued it is “utter nonsense” for groups like the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF), which has endorsed his primary challenger businessman Matt Bevin, to argue that Republicans like him in Congress are not fighting hard enough to defeat Democrats. In the interview, McConnell focused on deriding Tea Partiers for leading the effort to defund Obamacare—something that, coupled with the Democrats’ refusal to compromise on the soon-to-fail Obamacare, resulted in a government shutdown.

“The Senate Conservatives Fund is giving conservatism a bad name,” McConnell told the Examiner for the piece titled “The Establishment Fights Back: Mitch McConnell leads GOP battle against Tea Party insurgents.”

“They’re [SCF] participating in ruining the [Republican] brand,” McConnell said. “What they do is mislead their donors into believing the reason that we can’t get as good an outcome as we’d like to get is not because of a Democratic Senate and a Democratic president, but because Republicans are insufficiently committed to the cause—which is utter nonsense.”

The leader of the GOP in the Senate wants all you damn Conservatives to shut up and butt out. You don't know how to win elections. These guys do. How? With middle of the road genuine Conservatives like John McCain and Mitt Romney. Really. That's what America wants and that's what the GOP is determined to give them. THEY HAVEN'T LEARNED ANYTHING. If someone like Ted Cruz becomes the front runner the GOP will put zero effort into defeating the Democrat candidate. They will spend every cent they have to destroy him. They don't like him and they don't like people who think like him. You hayseeds and rednecks in flyover land need to learn your place!

About 20% are liberals and about 40% are conservatives. Time for a conservative party, Sara and the American Party.

It will be great to see this icon of RINO do nothing pass off the scene. He has become part of the problem and is not working to solve anything. I hope...for real change.

Who shut down the Government Mitch? Who was voting to fund various segments of govt. every day Mitch?

If he wants to spout democrat talking points, he should hike up his big boy panties and switch parties.

Given the rampant and virtually unstoppable ‘Rat election fraud, which the GOP was happy to condone, the Pubbies can’t win another election anyway. Why should conservatives want to associate with that bunch of losers, anyway?

A message needs to be sent to the Chamber of Commerce that with conservative ascendancy, they are going to get their teeth kicked in for supporting failures like McConnell at the expense of the United States.

This is the bottom line. Conservatives are trying to save the United States, and RINOs are complicit with Democrats in trying to destroy the United States. If the Chamber of Commerce can’t get this simple fact through their thick skulls, then it is time for them to get not just politically marginalized, but destroyed.

You are either for the United States, or you are against it.

Choose.

I’m waiting to hear how we can work within the Republican Party and change it. McConnell is proof that will never happen.

He is a turd that cannot be polished. He has no idea how much of the base here he has permanently alienated. Or maybe he does. I double damn guarantee you that he would rather see Grimes elected than Bevin. Book on it. Because if Bevin doesn’t get the nomination, it will be Grimes getting the seat.

I agree about the conservative party. Kick out the RINOs in the GOP and take it over, listen to them cry. Best payback EVAH!

Man, is he making our job easy! (Naturally by “our” I mean the good people of Kentucky)

I thought I read earlier that there was a bunch of candidates running. Is that true? Is Bevin the best of the batch?
