Amazon testing delivery by drones, CEO says(delivery within 30 minutes!)
Chicago Tribune ^

Amazon.com Inc. is testing delivery packages using drones, CEO Jeff Bezos said Sunday on the CBS television program "60 Minutes."

Bezos said the drones, unmanned vehicles that fly through the air, could deliver packages that weigh up to five pounds. That represents roughly 86 percent of packages that Amazon delivers, he said.

The drones, which would pick up items from Amazon's distribution centers and fly them to customer's homes, probably won't be put into use for four or five years, Bezos said.

Amazon may start using the drones, which can deliver packages within 30 minutes, in four to five years pending Federal Aviation Administration approval, Bezos said.

Was thinking how long they would keep it up when drones are being shot down daily.

what about the cameras snooping over the homes for delivery?

what about the subpoenas for video pictures?

what about the flight paths?

What if the neighbors do not grant flyover rights?

If it is so light to deliver by drone, then it is light enough to 3d print.

“I wonder what homeland security will have to say about that.”

Nothing, absolutely nothing. It’s a dream come true for them. The more junk filling the sky, the more their spy drones can blend in totally undetected.

Just think, some little do hinky is flying past your home. You think they are delivering something to a neighbor. When in fact your home has been photographed, xrayed and who-knows-whated inside and out.

Shoot one down and your photo will be sent off before the thing crashes.

I was referring to the physical mess of owls used to deliver messages.

Given the propensity for other big ecommerce companies (Google) to just spy and then ask forgiveness later, I suspect the Amazon drones will be doing the same thing. We’ll find out later they were pinging all the wifi hotspots on their way in and taking detailed pics through any uncurtained windows.

“Your neighbor has patio furniture, here are patio funiture you would like.”

“Install a pool today.”

imagine criminal predators using drones to scout out prey.

Can you imagine the fun Jeff Foxworthy or Bill Ingvall will have with that?

When the smokinggun.com perps get drones the whole fabric of society will change.

The gang banger home invaders can scout your home, your routine and your security system, complete with a video of your punching in the code, prior to staging their crimes.

The pedophile up the street can leisurely peer at your nubile 12yr olds swimming in their fenced back yard. Zooming in on particularly interesting bits as they wish.

The next Tsarnaev brothers can sit at the nearby Starbucks while their drone stages a chemical attack. With none the wiser.

etc.

Amazon may find that it has fewer customers if this is implemented.

F’in joke. What in the hell are these ass hats trying to do. I already have a problem with flocks of pigeons. Imagine the train wreck with the sky dark with drones and many crashing together and killing what is below. The sky here has too much shi! in the sky now.

Sweet Young Voice: "Mr. Drill? This is Amazon. About your latest order..."

BtD: "Huh? Yeah, wuzzup?"

SYV: "Well, we don't normally carry that model of air-to-ground missle but we found a subcontractor who does."

BtD: "Great! Who's the sub and when can I expect delivery?"

SYV: "The Air Force. They said they'd be right over."

BtD: "It was a model I wanted! I clicked on the wrong thing! Only a model! Only a" [dial tone]
