BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A woman charged with killing a fellow Alabama fan after the end of last weekend's Iron Bowl football game was angry that the victim and others didn't seem upset over the Crimson Tide's loss to archrival Auburn, said the sister of the slain woman.

I think the “I shouldn’t do this because it’s wrong” circuit has been burnt out of our society.
Team sports build character.
He had too much “Bama” in ‘em.
The article says the killer and the victim were both Alabama fans, but that the victim wasn’t upset enough over the loss. Crimson on Crimson crime, nothing to see here, move along.......
“If I can’t be happy, no one can be happy”
Hope his cellmate is an Auburn fanatic.
Southern man didn’t need her around, anyhow.
Part alcohol or part tribal DNA? Doesn’t matter—she just chose the total evil deed regardless.
Wow....as a Wake Forest fan, I guess I’d better be pretty darn miserable all the time :-(
Song lyric right?
A man must know his limitations. After Braxton Miller threw that interception, I had to fix my dryer. I could only watch the replay on BTN.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Sweet Home Alabama.”
Alabama has some homegrown very sweet looking and nice as pie ‘womens’...
This one must have washed ashore on a stormy night.
And here I was thinking it would be too obscure a reference.
That is what I thought.
People today take way to seriously "games".
I understand rooting for the local or your favorite team. I understand the fun of rooting against the opposing team. But this is all supposed to be about having fun.
But people getting angry about this???
Most people don't have ownership in a team. Most people aren't players on the team. Most people don't have any form of skin in the game.
They sit in their seats at the stadium or their sofas at home, slurp soda or gulp beer, stuff their faces with hotdogs and popcorn, pretzels and burgers, WHILE OTHERS do all the work running on a field or court. They go into hysterics when a player from "their" team scores, like they did it themselves. Then they get mad when things don't go their way.
Fanatic (full use of the word Fan)-a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal.
Amish on Amish?
I have an excellent memory for lyrics.
Remember that the only difference is the color of our skin.
They’re a bit nuts down here. (And I was raised here)
thanks, I thought it was.
Seems Tide Pride is nothing to joke about.
Do I even need to click the link?
Nick Saban’s fault.
When ‘Bama was on the 13 yard line earlier in the 4Q they should have kicked a field goal in that close and make it a 10 point game instead of coming up short on 4th down. Oh well.....
I learned English in no small way by listening to Radio America and the BBC Middle East broadcasts.
For a Hasidic Jew, I somehow know all the 60s and 70s rock songs by heart.
Guarantee you she didn’t attend Alabama.
Our son went to school yesterday and listened to so much taunting by Auburn fans. I could see someone with a screw loose becoming violent at such taunting. On the other hand, my other son and I had fun this morning making jokes at the doctor’s office with a nurse who is an Auburn fan. As we were leaving, the doctor called down the hallway, “Do you have a second?” I turned and looked confused briefly then caught on and laughed and shook my head at him. I don’t think the doctor is a particular fan of either team. He is from South America. But he does enjoy picking on all sides of the rivalry.
Hubby and I were eating lunch at a restaurant owned by Auburn folks. There was a group of people eating at a table near ours, and a man at the table said he was late getting home last night because he had just gotten back from Auburn. He said he was so upset about the game that he decided to go poison some trees . . . . He then laughed and said he was joking. I told him not to worry that I had recorded his confession with hubby’s cell phone. LOL
The last few months have been rather rough on our household, but one of our fondest memories of this time was when our son was in ICU, hubby and I went to his room to watch the Bama game with our son even though he was mostly sedated at the time. It was not during visiting hours, so we were not supposed to be there, but we had special permission and we always watch games as a family. The ICU nurses had set up an empty room so they could watch the Auburn/A and M game while continuing to monitor patients. When hubby arrived to watch the Bama game, the Auburn game was in its last few minutes. He and the three Auburn fan nurses were huddled around the tv in that other room, and one of those nurses was grabbing hubby’s arm and jumping up and down as the game ended. They were nuts, and hubby was right in the middle of them though he is a huge Bama fan. The Bama game that night was very uneventful. Our son slept through the entire thing. Hah. He did not sleep through the Iron Bowl. I will take a loss in the Iron Bowl just to see our son make jokes about it with doctors who thought he would be dead or severely brain damaged just two months ago. :)
What the Sam Hill does skin color have to do with this?
His TIDEpool’s a couple quarts short of full.
I can't really determine the murderer's by the photos. The victim is certainly black. See this link: Woman charged with murder in Hoover Iron Bowl party shooting. What do you think? With a name and spelling like Adrian Laroze, she might be one of Holder's people.
it was a female who killed another female!
seriously, that gal looks like a well-worn 48, not 28... sheesh... hard life i suppose...
This reminds me of the incident in which an Alabama fan poisoned some old oak trees that were a favorite gathering spot in Auburn. Some people take sports way too seriously. Considering the way Alabama lost that game, I think the victim who tried to make light of it had the better attitude.
I was born in Alabama (have lived in Texas since 1969) and my family members who still live there must have taken the loss hard. But in the end, it's just a game. These jerk fans are only going to give the school a bad reputation.
How is it possible?
Schools are no gun zones.
So guns magically disappear anytime one is brought into a no gun zone.
Or could it be, someone willing to shoot someone is not too concern about no gun zones. In fact no gun zones are the best place for a evil person to be, since they would be the only ones with a gun. The (potential) victims cannot fight back.
the killer is not a man...
Why was she so upset, it’s not as if they lost to Georgia Southern.
It depends. If it was black-on-black, just another story. If it was black-on-white, it will be shot into the memory hole with a quickness. If it was white-on-black, it will become a national headline story and the revruns will come out of the woodwork to denounce rayciss whites and demand reparations and march for “no justice no peace”. That’s what race has to do with it.
On the plus side....Georgia beat Georgia Tech in double overtime.
Flipping and pausing between the two games was nerve racking.
How anyone prefers the mercenaries that play on Sunday over the college version is beyond me.
The shooting occurred at the Riverchase apartment complex in Hoover, AL not at the school.
By the way, Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA is a Conservative Christian institution (founded by Jerry Falwell) that permits guns on campus, living up to the spirit of its name.
By the way, in this Free Republic thread, you'll read in my post #36 that our church of Christ congregation also cherishes freedom. The preacher packs and so so most of the rest of us. Some thug trying to make off with the collection plate would get a flurry of hot lead in the head. We do have a graveyard nearby so the burial would be quick!
It was with the deepest respect that I did not mention that game.
But I was pleased that the Evil Genius was frozen out of the SEC Championship Game.
