I am about to get the new 3D scanner for SolidWorks.
I don’t understand how they can sell something with giving any indication of price.
Ever been married?

Someone majored in BuzzWord Scrabble!
"Wait! It doesn't straighten teeth"
"It doesn't make them crooked does it?"

Kinda like taking a nice long shower in cow flop, ain't it?
About all I've got to hear is "empowered" and I'm headed for the nearest exit...
I became a cook not long after that.
Yeah.

What I am getting is not a printer. It is something like a camera that uses lasers like a radar which cuts a big step out of creating parametric solids from the combined stitched scans into a single solid object. From there I can make 3D printed prototypes to test fit and then to send the solid file info to machine or sheet metal fabricated copies.
My particular interest is mostly for old car parts no longer available or short run castings of racing related parts that vendors will not release for my use to incorporate their parts into new chassis designs.

I have a 74-1/2 260 that is set to be parted out. The body and tub is just rusting away.

The ProJet 5500X is a pretty good sized machine. Large build volume, fast, multiple material capability. People who need it will buy it and the price will be well worth it. But you can expect it to be $225,000 to start. This is professional level machine. Very sophisticated, lots of moving parts.
I’m very familiar with these technologies. I used to be a SW reseller and dabbled with various scanners. It’s amazing how the prices have come down. 3D Systems also introduced a new scanner exactly for the application you’re interested in. It takes geometry into SW directly, cleans up missing faces, etc. might be worth checking out if you haven’t bought yet.
One for your pinglist.
Can this 3D printer make new 3D printer copies of itself?
the “replicator” is alive and well......
What you described is exactly what I am getting.
