Bill Clinton: Damage to Democrats over Obamacare rollout failure will be ‘minimal’
The Washington Times ^ | December 3, 2013 | Dave Boyer

Former President Bill Clinton, who prodded President Obama last month to keep his promises on Obamacare, said Tuesday that the political damage for Democrats from the flawed law will be “minimal.”

“I believe that if the computer problems are all fixed, and it’s up and running by — and healthy in the next several weeks, I think that the damage will be minimal,” Mr. Clinton told interviewer Jorge Ramos of Fusion. “It’s getting better. I think it’ll be fixed by — in the next few weeks. If it’s worked through, I think within four or five months people will be talking about something entirely differently.”(continued)

He’s right.

The media will champion the President no matter how bad things get and low information voters won’t care enough to question any of the DNC talking points or the lies told concerning the failures of Obamacare.....no matter how bad it gets.

It’s not the website, but rather, Obamacare that is the problem, The problem is not going away, but getting worse as time passes.

If close to 100 million get kicked off of their current healthcare plans, then even the low information voters will take notice. You can't hide reality with words.

“He’s right.”

The Republicans should be pounding both the website and the increased costs. Where are the ads saying?:

“Do you really want the government bureaucrats who can’t buy a working website for $600 million from a foreign company managing your healthcare?

“If you can afford your healthcare premiums now, wait until 2015!”

“If you like your doctor, you’d better get your checkup before your have an Obamacare compliant plan.”

It would be really hard for the Clintons to oppose Obamacare while supporting it so publicly and she from within the administration. If it looks like it could drag her down, my prediction is they will resort to that old Clinton tactic of triangulation. She’ll pledge to tweak and fix the few things needed to make it just right.

No, Bill.....They will be talking about something entirely different OR they will be talking about THIS entirely differently. I thought the guy was supposed to be a genius. Or is that his wife? Gosh - it’s so difficult to keep this straight when all democrats sent to DC are all supposed to be geniuses....

The faulty website is the only thing temporarily saving their collective butts.

Once it works, and everybody actually learns their specific cost for insurance, the public will go through the roof.

Well, Captain Smith would have said that at around 11:30 p.m. on April 14, 1912. However, at around 2:00 a.m. on April 15, 1912 Captain Smith would have been saying...”Oh, shit!”

This is why they call him ‘Slick’.

He’s giving Obama the green light to double down on the very thing that will destroy his legacy, and the careers of every Dem politician who supported him.

Slick walks away grinning as his enemies go up in flames.

One of the things that is going unsaid is this: the ‘failure to launch’ of healthcare.gov is the best thing that could have happened for Obama. If the site had worked properly and millions of people could have seen what their options for coverage are and the cost, we would be in a state of civil revolt by now.

I think he is right about the botched rollout. If they get the website even halfway operational by year's end then the damage will be small, and the impact will fade. The sticker shock, however, which is hurting and traumatizing enrollees, will not fade, but will bore in like the screw worm on the back of a cow.

The worst is yet to come.

Yup. there may or may not be some short term electoral consequences (to be fully muted and in fact inverted if the GOP goes along with amnesty, which could lead to a Dem rout in 2014) but the long term prospectus on unending gubmint growth appears unchallenged. I cannot recall one mass gubmint gimmedat policy that has been repealed. Ever.

And this malignancy will not be the first. It is with us until the collapse.
