Violent crime per person is higher in the UK. It was not in any way a suggestion towards us being “superior” as much as I use it as a direct correlation to the fact that in the UK you are all but prevented from self protection. Yeah, we have our guns and we have higher deaths by the gun, but a per person LOWER violent crime rate. 1 death is too many in crime we all know and accept, but its out of context in my original post so I hope this clarifies it better.

The biggest violent crime in the UK is burglary.
And we are not not allowed (pardon the double negative) self-defence or defence of the home, that’s a myth I and other British freepers constantly have to correct on here.
I know its myth, as I have been one of those who used violence in defence of myself and my home in 2008.
Also, as I have pointed out, the classification of violent crime in the UK skews the figures, as we have crimes on the books here classed as violent that aren’t in the US or other major countries.
