Full title: Expert: At least 129 million will not be able to keep health care plan if Obamacare fully implemented
If Obamacare is fully implemented, 68 percent of Americans with private health insurance will not be able to keep their plan, according to health care economist Christopher Conover.
Conover is a research scholar in the Center for Health Policy & Inequalities Research at Duke University and an adjunct scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. In an interview with The Daily Caller, he laid out what he estimates the consequences of Obamacares implementation will ultimately be.
Bottom line: of the 189 million Americans with private health insurance coverage, I estimate that if Obamacare is fully implemented, at least 129 million (68 percent) will not be able to keep their previous health care plan either because they already have lost or will lose that coverage by the end of 2014, he said in an email. But of these, only the 18 to 50 million will literally lose coverage, i.e., have their plans entirely taken away. This includes 9.2-15.4 million in the non-group market and 9-35 million in the employer-based market. The rest will retain their old plans but have to pay higher rates for Obamacare-mandated bells and whistles.

‘if’ in the title should be changed to ‘when’ Zero is not budging on delaying implementation.
Why Obama-Reid -Pelosi are RADIOACTIVE! Laugh out loud taht they all want to change the subject. Obamacare is like an annoying record that keeps skipping and skipping, and no one can stop it, until the Dems throw Obama under the bus.
Does this include transitioning to Obamacare on a lower premium ? That would include me. Have no idea why, though, except I happen to live in the right state with a nice employer. :)
That ought to change some election dynamics!
Why Obama un-Constitutionally and desparately unilaterally delayed the employer mandate for a year.
That is basically everyone working. The balance of the 300 million living here are too young or too old.
Which is why it must not be delayed. Obama can not change law. He has bullied businesses and government agencies into violating the law. Prosecute them. If they are stupid enough to obey Obama’s decrees that’s their problem. Prosecute them fully.
A few years from now the exchange policies will for the insurance carriers and off exchange policies will be cheaper than on exchange policies. If exchange policies can’t compete without subsidy....
Well, let’s see. The liberals hate capitalism and think the health care providers and insurance companies should not be “allowed” to earn a profit by providing services for sick people and seeing as how the profit element is a big part of the growing cost structure, it should be “controlled” by government. So, they decide to “reduce” costs by having the government dictate terms to the industry. First they force a cost reduction by making sure all sick people are covered. Then force another cost reduction by ensuring everyone is covered for everything (needed or not). Then force another cost reduction by ensuring that deductibles and co-pays go sky high. Then they force another cost reduction by subsidizing those who can’t afford affordable health care. And another cost reduction by penalizing, er, taxing those who cannot afford affordable healthcare even with the subsidy (gotta pay rent, lights, groceries, etc). Then after all those cost savings they reduce costs further by going ahead and allowing the insurance companies a “reasonable” profit anyway. The costs are now so low it might as well be free for all. And will eventually be. If you can get it.
Why very, very few are talking about this is nuts.
Remember that this was passed for the 11 million who had no health insurance. Then it was increased to 48 million when they assumed that amnesty would pass and the 33 million illegals would become citizens.
1 + 2 = 4.98 Obama Math. Just like the new math, only different.
The idiots don’t understand that profits are invested in life-saving technologies, that anticipated profit incentivizes research. They want a government run static economy. Production begets wealth begets production. These idiots are going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.
I wonder if obamacare is going to get that far. Especially when hundreds, thousands and maybe even tens of thousands of folks start being killed by obamacare towards the end of January when they no longer have medical insurance or medical care from their doctors because obamacare cancelled their insurance and they were unable to obtain comparable insurance or medical care.
I’m talking about chronically ill people who are being kept alive by highly specialized treatments by highly specialized doctors in highly specialized treatment centers. You don’t treat cancer, hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, childhood genetic diseases, and thousands of other such diseases in the ER.
Those are the people who will truly suffer and die because their existing insurance has been cancelled and they are unable to sign up for new insurance, or unable to afford new insurance, or are offered only policies that no longer include their existing specialized care givers.
Obama and the Democrats are going to have blood on their hands if they persist in trying to implement their totally unworkable legislation when it starts to kill innocent children. We need to show the nation that blood so we can end this horror.
129 million would be a majority of working people
So they not only lied but they knew that most people would lose their coverage
And how many of those will still vote for the progressives that will “fix” Obamacare with single payer?
