Turley: Obama's "Become The Very Danger The Constitution Was Designed To Avoid"
Real Clear Politics Video ^ | December 4, 2013

REP. BOB GOODLATTE (R-VA): Professor Turley, the constitution, the system of separated powers is not simply about stopping one branch of government from usurping another. It's about protecting the liberty of Americans from the dangers of concentrated government power. How does the president's unilateral modification of act of Congress affect both the balance of power between the political branches and the liberty interests of the American people?

JONATHAN TURLEY: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The danger is quite severe. The problem with what the president is doing is that he's not simply posing a danger to the constitutional system. He's becoming the very danger the Constitution was designed to avoid. That is the concentration of power in every single branch.

Totally agree. You can see it when the GOP attacks the Tea Party, they seem to think the status-quo is OK...they don’t see the sea of change before them.

....something is coming and it will get ugly.

I stated in another thread that if impeachment ever comes up, it will be by the Democrats, not the Republicans.

Another thread of an Obama person questioning the state of affairs:

As with an earlier AG, Janet Reno (and say Waco, ..., etc. - those "ongoing investigations" which never did end - and hence resulted in zilch), the most important things a President needs are: (a) a compliant AG, and (b) an impenitent Congress (i.e., nada on active, aggressive, and adversarial oversight).

Obama and his administration are clear proof of this.

Henry Hyde is not proud - the flag has indeed fallen.

Yes, he is, and this situation is going to get much, much worse.

Yep. The time to say "Praise the Lord and pass the ammo" is almost at hand.

Our states have power but the states have sat on their thumbs for too long, too. We have not used all the tools that were made available to us. Hopefully we can start trying to use the tools and it’s not too late.

A little more help and less resistance from our elected officials and the dagblasted media would be nice!

On the other hand, if Obama has lost Turley, it’s not a good sign for the President.

Turley's about as far left-wing of a Professor as one will find (google him and read ... some of the stuff he advocates makes me nervous.) The fact is, if Obama's losing people like Turley, he's losing his BASE.

2014 is going to be an interesting election year and I wonder if people like Turley will either sit-out the mid-term elections OR hold their nose and vote (R) to stop Obama in his tracks.

Impeaching just means that the Senate can start removal process, which takes 2/3 to carry out...which is 67 votes. They still can’t prosecute or imprison.

If the Rebublicans miraculously take ALL 21 Dem Senate seats in the next election, they will get to 66.

Expect them to fall short of even that with a few “throw them all out” movements.

And the same Constitution contains the remedy: Impeachment and Removal.

Congress has abandoned it Constitutional mandate to do so.

It’ll have to have Democrat support, at the least. Removal requires 2/3.

The best path is to motivate the will of the people to put pressure on their Senators. We do that by putting the information and arguments in front of them while they are paying attention.

I recall sometime in the early 1970’s, reading a rewrite of the Constitution as written by a bunch of radical leftist.

When I read it I thought it was a joke but it wasn’t.

It was written spelling out what the govt had to do for you, no mention of what limits were placed on the govt.

Obama famously endorsed that document in an interview he gave to a Chicago public radio station ten or twelve years ago.

He's becoming...

True, Turley is a liberal.
That no doubt lead to his choice of words and masks his unwillingness to say that O has always presented a threat to the Constitution, to admit that it was a serious mistake for any clear thinking American such as he regards himself to support O’s candidacy.

O's anti-Constitution and anti-American views were well-published and available to all far in advance of his election. While most of us here recognized the danger early on, it is quite telling that a majority did not.

Yes, that is a common view among liberals now. You have a right to government services, and there is no danger of too much government control. It’s a product of government-controlled schooling.

No, after 8 years of the evil Boooosh and racist GOP (so the media told us) many were too excited in attending rallies and fainting at just the sight of a clean, articulate black man...
