Posted on 12/05/2013 10:30:16 AM PST by MNDude
According to a university spokesman, it was created as part of a diversity program designed to "raise awareness and promote discussion on issues such as race, gender and sexual identity." The controversial display was posted on a bulletin board for the Community Education Program in Foster Residence Center, and poses the question "Can Santa Claus be a black man?" The university has since taken it down after the display sparked outrage on social media.
In addition to its main query, the display also asked students to ponder the following: "If Santa is a black man, would you let him come down your chimney?"

Can’t wait for the white Martin Luther King display next month!
What a bunch of maroons.
The original Santa was certainly not pasty white. Why is melanin an issue?
America already has a black Santa — Obama Claus. He’s giving away everything...an’ he ain’t gotta slide down no damn chimney, foo’!
What a particularly idiotic “controversy.” Don’t these people have anything better to do?
what about a homosexual Santa?
we hear stories about Mrs. Claus, which suggests that Santa is “hetero-normative”. Being heteronormative offends the sensibilities of liberals, because of their need to celebrate diversity.
Well, in looking at the National Mall MLK carving, it seems we got an Asian MLK.....
So a black Santa would wear sunglasses and play a saxophone? And they’re concerned about reinforcing stereotypes?
I saw a commercial on TV the other day by a mall that is frequented by mostly black people...they were letting them know that Kunte Santa (something like that - maybe Kente) would be there on such and such dates.
>>The original Santa was certainly not pasty white. Why is melanin an issue?
In the twisted ObamaNation version of “beyond race”, melanin isn’t the biggest issue—it’s the ONLY issue.
melanin isn’t the issue
victimhood is the issue
Dear Lord, who in this nation today is NOT "aware" of "issues" such as "race, gender and sexual identity." Actually who isn't sick to death of those issues being pounded into our heads day after day after day by the media and government at all levels? How much higher can you "raise awareness" short of brain implants pumping the message directly into people's heads?
What does it take to turn people away from victimhood?
>> “to raise awareness”
That’s a lie. The goal is to invert values.
And instead of cookies and milk, children would leave out fried chicken and watermelon. I'm sure they included that too.
You noticed that, too.
Obviously a product of China.
Depends on whether the bag he's carrying is full or empty.
IIRC, we are not the only ones. I believe there have been some MLK-ites that have complained about it, too.
How about a transsexual Santa? How incredibly misguided are we to believe that a woman could not change her gender and become the jolly old gift-giver. /s
Santa is what you wish him to be. Years ago Brummett Echohawk (Pawnee) told of a White mans Santa who visited an Indian school in Oklahoma. The children were terrified!
The Principal and teachers put their heads together, and soon in came an Indian Santa. Dressed in Buckskins, braids, feathers, spoke the childrens language. Still had his bag of toys. The children loved it because they could relate to him!
“Oooh, it’s Mr. Landlord.”
I would like to see the ‘controversy’. I have never seen anyone cave to antiblack controversy, ever. I suspect that this was designed to invent some fake controversy that could be pointed to claim racism still exists.
I think it was Richard Pryor who had a bit proving that Santa Claus was black because, “There wasn’t no white man coming into my neighborhood at midnight.”
As you said, Santa is what you wish him to be. Indian Santa visiting an Indian school makes sense to me. The story just leaps out as a constructive lesson in the use of common sense.
For the 47 percent, there is a black Santa!
Yep...and Jesus was black, George Washington was black...I even heard Albert Einstein was mostly black!
Anybody who slides down a chimney comes out black. My in-law is a chimney sweep and he`s black all the time and he ain`t Afro-American,...
So, like a bizarro santa, where good is evil and joy is sorrow? Stuff like that?
Well, if they weren’t black, they stole all their good ideas from black people who used to be able to fly around the pyramids.
If Santa was a homosexualist, would you let him come in your back door?
We’ve already seen The Honeymooners, Little Orphan Annie, and the Last Man on Earth recast as stories about black people.
>>What does it take to turn people away from victimhood?
Same as anything else: make it unprofitable and/or shameful.
Their cries of “Woe is us” should be met with scorn and “so you’ve been free for 150 years and still can’t figure out belts and suspenders or that babies cost money long after the fun wears off?”
Don’t forget the Wizard of Oz.
Wasn’t there a Wizard of Oz one back in the 70’s also?
Yes. The 3 I listed were modern “reboots”.
There was also a Dr. Doolittle remake.
Don’t forget Karate Kid.
Next, the LGBT Santa and his very merry elves.
These people are sicksicksick. No matter what it is, they have to twist it and change it, and it’s racist or sexist or something-ist to have an undisturbed, traditional, majority supported display of anything.
