“There were seven reported cases of street violence in New Haven this November that could be linked to the ‘knockout game,’ ” The Yale Daily News reported today, citing a Nov. 21 email from Yale Police Chief, Ronnell Higgins.
This alert follows a wave of “knockout” attacks around the country, in which assailants have targeted random individuals for assault.
The New Haven Police Department is also ”preparing to arrest one individual in response to the Church Street ‘knockout’ incident that occurred on Nov. 17,” the paper reports.
In response to the police department’s warning, a Yale spokesperson downplayed the attacks, claiming the email was meant to be precautionary. And New Haven Police cannot say for certain whether the wave of recent attacks is related to the “knockout game.”

A good reason to be armed these days. And I dare say, to racially profile.
Issue concealed carry permits to all students.

I went to the BC-Yale football game there in 1984. You mean, there was room for New Haven to get WORSE?
Since this usually happens by thugs in groups, I have absolutely no problem keeping my eyes on a group of feral blacks. They are the ONLY group doing this, so when I see a group of blacks heading my way, I WILL be in ready-mode. Proactive response is more effective than reactive defense.
Natchurally these attacks happen in states with restrictive gun laws. Citizens have no right to protect themselves. Cops will not come to your aid until the attack happens. Cops do not prevent crime. They only investigate it after it happens.
7 in New Haven? Wow. I must admit I am shocked. If this is true, it is worse than I thought (and I thought it was bad). I do wish the media wouldn’t just focus on the punching, as there are other attacks by blacks that seem to be widespread.
First attacks or first attacks since they are now tabulating attacks that meet this previously un-investigated motive?

Brooklyn Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo blamed the recent ‘knockout game’ attacks in her district on the growth and succsess of the Jewish Community. In a Facebook post she says, “Many of her black constituents told her they feel threatened by the growth of the neighborhood’s Jewish community.”

Or smile and stretch like you’re getting ready to lift something heavy. They’re looking for body language that says “prey”, and swiveling heads and scurried withdrawals are prey signals.
Not everyone can pull off the predator persona but it’s your best bet. They want it easy, so send the signals it won’t be, but be ready to back it up.
A lot of times when I’m walking I do this exercise, I imagine any time a rabbit is going to jump in front of me, and I have to be attentive and limber enough to snatch it, and I walk on the balls of my feet with a relaxed stride. I believe the body conforms to the thought, and other people watching the way you move make certain instinctive assessments.
