I eat at the Chinese restaurant fairly often. Good Dim Sum.

You’d think the museum would be in the Chicago area, since the movie takes place in Hammond, Indiana, which is a suburb of Chicago.

I was filmed primarily in Toronto and Cleveland. And the House is in Cleveland.

Sure, as if any good parent would allow their kids to watch such horrors of a child getting a fully automatic military style bb gun for Christmas.

I knew they shot parts in Cleveland, but I didn’t know they filmed parts in Toronto.
But it was obvious the story took place near Chicago, because they clearly showed that “The Old Man” was a Bears fan.

When I was growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, it was common for a half dozen of us to walk through the neighborhood with BB guns and pellet guns, and head over to the abandoned gravel plant. After we expended all our BBs and pellets on cans, bottles, birds, rats, whatever, we would walk back and shoot hoops or play football.
Can you imagine what would happen today if six 12-14 year olds were seen walking through a neighborhood with BB guns?

I have always liked that movie. “Christmas Story” captured the comfortable simplicity of the late ‘40s nicely, with the nuclear family home environment, the Dad as the breadwinner, the Mom taking care of the household, Ralphie’s getting his BB gun and finally his satisying smackdown of that rat-faced bully without being suspended from school or forced onto Ritalin for “violent behavior.”
Great stuff!

The movie was based on “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash” by Jean Shepherd. Any other Shep fans on FR?
