WASHINGTON — The Obama administration said Friday it will allow some companies to kill or injure bald and golden eagles for up to 30 years without penalty, an effort to spur development and investment in green energy while balancing its environmental consequences.

The change, requested by the wind energy industry, will provide legal protection for the lifespan of wind farms and other projects for which companies obtain a permit and make efforts to avoid killing the birds.

Whatever happened to environmental impact studies before they went whole hog into this BS? I guess that don’t happen to GREEN industries.

All of this is a perfect example of the complete nonsense issued forth from the Environmental Left. They could care less about eagles, snail darters, or any other of God’s creatures. Their agenda is the advancement of their socialist, progressive, communist cultural agenda and they don’t care how many eagles have to die to achieve it. They prey on the ignorant and emotional lightweights amongst us and gather them to their cause. They will cast them aside whenever convenient.

We should reconsider the merits of burning at the stake - these people are could not be better candidates for that sort of treatment.

You said it so well. I happen to think eagles should be left alone...and I really hate this.

Slaughtering eagles.

Government-subsidized slaughtering of eagles. Your tax dollars at work.

IIRC, DDT was the big killer. So we bred them....at $50,000 a crack and put them back in the wild.

So not to worry...we'll kill'm and breed them in one monetary swoop.

This really galls me. Tens or hundreds of thousands thrown out of work putatively to save a spotted owl that nobody had ever heard of. Millions dead of malaria because we banned DDT to protect eagles and other raptors.

Now Emperor Obama just tosses all that out and lets windmill companie make eagle puree with their INFERNAL machines.

Europeans have finally woken up to the fact that green energy is unreliable, costly, and depriving people of affordable energy. But we are plunging ahead with the most uneconomic landscape-blighting, eagle-chopping energy source of all. Meanwhile, the globe seems to be entering a new mini ice age and the raison d’etre for windmills is dead, dead, dead.

We are governed by stupid, rigid iconoclasts and commies who will thrown anybody and anything overboard to further their totalitarian dictatorships.

The solution to comply with “not killing the birds” is simplistic and does not require expensive research.

Cage the blades with chain link.

Sure it is slightly more expensive to build, but it would be 70% environmentally friendly, and 100% in compliance with existing laws.
(the additional noise and loss of power generation levels will make it unviable for commercial production, but WTH, it's clean and subsidized, right?

Maintenance of the cages will be very labor intensive and expensive of course, but that's just rolled into the cost of production.

On the order of 100,000,000 more manhours to maintain and produce!

So it is not now, and never will be feasible, on a large scale. I hate liberals.

Apparently there is a loophole in the Federal Eagle Act: Eagle Act The department of the Interior can issue permits to kill eagles
