MICROSOFT DEVELOPING 'SMART BRA' TO REDUCE EMOTIONAL OVEREATING
Breitbart/Drudge ^ | 6 Dec 2013

REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Microsoft is working on a smart bra with sensors to monitor a wearer's mood and trigger a smartphone app to reduce emotional overeating, U.S. researchers said. Alerts from the wearable technology would be constantly refined by user feedback, enabling the bra to improve its ability to read a specific person's feelings, InformationWeek reported Thursday. Microsoft researchers worked with the University of Rochester and Britain's University of Southampton on the project, attempting to associate emotions with poor eating habits and to determine whether wearable devices can help reduce the resulting weight gains.

A wearable smart bra was chosen primarily because it allows sensors to be placed near the heart, the researchers said, but follow-up research is intended to yield more gender-neutral devices such as bracelets. To establish a link between a person's emotional state and the likelihood they would overeat, participants in a study were asked to record their emotions and eating patterns with a smartphone app. Those who reported they felt stressed, upset or bored were most likely to eat outside of regular meals, the researcher found. Microsoft said the smart bra is part of its ongoing research into possible uses for wearable technology and it has no plans to make it into a commercial product.

The practical question: Machine washable or dry clean only?

I initially read that headline as “... To Reduce Emotional OverHEATing”

LOL... Leave it to Microsoft to put smart tech in a bra, and claim it has nothing to do with boobies. Right, guys.

You gotta love a company with a couple of dimwitted liberals at the helm. They took the watchword INNOVATE and passed it among all the company’s free-thinkers, human factors, and marketing team and they came up with this.

I’d bet a dollar, one of the geeks had one beer to many and he saw a real pair and thought “Boobies!” Hence the bra dealy.

You’d think after Windows 8, they’d at least have some humility and get back to writing software that asks you a million times “are you sure you want to do that?” every time you push a button or click a mouse.

What does it do, gently massage the contents and play around with them and make the owner forget about food?

There could very easily be a public health grant in this. You get to work with boobs and get money from the state for fighting obesity.

Who is the marketing genius that signed off on this, lol? Sounds highly sexist. Probably not much fun developing a moob version, but the PC harridans are going to shred them if there isn’t one.
