The Washington Times ^ | December 7 2013 | Dave Boyer

Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month.

“It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy

Yep, there’s no better way to get out of a hole than to keep digging deeper, isn’t that so, Mr. President?

That’s the tried and true progressive plan, right?

Keep digging no matter what.

The hole’s too deep. We need to dig deeper.

Say what you will about President You Didn’t Build That, you’ve got to admit no other politician could say such stupid stuff with such a straight face.

Wait a second....if unemployment is “really” 7.0%....why do so many folks still need unemployment benefits?

prez snoop dawg knows the 7% number is bogus and that if the unemployment bennies were cut off, we’d very quickly find out just how bad the real unemployment situation is.

and that might cause some problems.

Barack Obama, 2013:

“There’s no one who is more frustrated by this hole that Bush dug for us than I am. That’s why we have no choice but to keep digging until we manage to dig our way out.”

Since unemployment benefits are one of the best economic stimulants there are we should have the Fed print up a few trillion dollars and force every citizen accept triple-unemployment benefits, regardless of whether or not they are employed.

Just imagine the golden era of prosperity that will result from this.

What’s the point of more unemployment benefits unless Obama stops the printing of more regulations which act as an anchor on businesses? There should be a moratorium on regulations, or no unemployment benefits.

They've already dug the hole all the way to China, Obama's just dumping more taxpayer's money into it.

How about we bring back jobs to America?

Just a thought.

Have you written Obama a letter?

Maybe he cam “proclaim” that Jobs magically appear here. He is the King you know, he can do anything.

A “novel idea” is nothing without funding, planning and implementation. After all that, you can only hope that with hard work and sacrifice that it succeeds.

He lives in an alternate universe. Everyone in our universe knows that you can’t dig your way out of a hole, that just makes a deeper hole.

You have climb out of a hole. Besides, didn’t we have a great big ole “recovery summer”. Didn’t the won stun us all with his incredible laser focus on jobs?

If his programs are so successful, how come we still need extended employment benefits?

Stupid is as Stupid does.

That impulse to extend unemployment benefits is IMO a major contributor to our having such long-term unemployed now in the middle class.

Is this a Keynesian sickness, or a Leftist one, that they cannot comprehend that throwing money at a problem almost universally makes it worse, not better? They’re trying to do it with unemployment, they’re already doing it with healthcare and several other sectors of the economy, and they want to do it with the MinWage too.

If unemployment benefits create prosperity, then let's give everyone those benefits.

The added prosperity would mean more wealth available to give as even more benefits and thus yield still more prosperity which can be used for still more benefits ... etc. An economic perpetual motion machine.

And it'll work just as well as all the other perpetual motion machines have.

Oh, grief. In 2009, my company was advised we would be shuttered and closed in 2010. I and every other employee with any sense spent the next few months hustling to find another job. Most of us left our then job and went right to work at our new jobs. Yes, we had advance warning, but we all made sure we had another job. Oh, and these were not lateral moves. I had to start over, as did many others.

I am really getting sick of hearing about how taxpayers need to pony up more taxes to support the unemployed. 99 weeks of siphoning off from taxpaying Americans is not long enough?
