Somehow I continue to be amazed by the sheer lack of intelligence or common sense shown by government officials at any level.

Chickens are dirty disease carrying dumb birds who belong on a bbq.

Get the kid a parrot or a parakeet.

“It's unfortunate, and I sympathize," Koval told The Sentinel. "But we spend a lot of time and money establishing codes and ordinances for the protection of the citizens and taxpayers of this community. And I believe that they [chickens] belong in agricultural areas."

It isn't for protection, it's for control.
Can he name what damage they're doing?

The parents need to submit an application to the state to have the animal(s) licensed as service animals. It can be done. My sister in law did it for her little Papillon dog. An animal that performs no more service to her than being a calming influence for her during trips to the hospital for required PT sessions for a variety of inflictions.

As ridiculous as it sounds, it is possible. Then the town can't say thing one about the chicken(s).

They’re only dirty if they’re penned and not kept clean.

Do Chickens Make Good Pets?

Chickens can make good pets and they are actually one of the most advantageous pets. They usually eat bugs and they also provide food. They are easy to take care of and cheap to maintain.

Chickens usually are not a nuisance. It is the roosters that neighbors don’t like.

I don't like chickens. BUT...I don't like snakes either. Or lizards. Or spiders. And people keep those as pets. As long as they stay at their house it is none of my business.

I can understand a rule against roosters as they tend to be noisy but let the kid keep his chickens.

Doesn't the city council have to go get their mom a flea dip or something?

The parents need a lawyer familiar with the Americans With Disabilities Act. If the chickens qualify as “service animals” for the boy, as it seems clear they are, and if the City Officials insist on being officious, then litigation may rightfully enrich the boy and his parents.

Taxpayers stupid enought to keep such fools in office have no complaint when they are billed for the acts of their employees.

Why does Florida have so many liberal dipsheets? Almost every day we read about something really stupid or hardcore left coming out of the Sunshine State.

Yes, I know it has given us Debbie Wasserman-Schulz and Alan Grayson, but it has also given up Col. Allen West (who they rejected the second time around).

I’ll trade the chickens the little boy needs for getting rid of the three chickenshits on the City Council. Would be worth it.

Then give the autistic child some raptors as pets. Then nobody would bother him.

I live in a residential area. The house to my left has chickens; three houses to the right they have every kind of poultry you can imagine. They don’t smell, they aren’t noisy, they eat bugs (like ticks), and I have access to fresh eggs.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Controlling, and stupid.

“Chickens are dirty disease carrying dumb birds who belong on a bbq.

Birds are birds - feathered sh*t machines. Some are more colorful than others, some more tender.

The isue isn’t which birds, but how will the community officials cope with the boy’s specific birds which have become his de facto service/therapy animals.

The parents should call them Service Chickens and sue the town.

Funny, your comment. We had renters down the block and the boy wanted a goat for 4H. I didn’t have the heart to tell him no and said he could if the city said okay. A couple weeks later we heard goats in the back yard. I called the city and was told that we have no ordinances against any animal whatsoever, as long as we can take care of it. Pig? Yes. A cow? Yes. So, there are communities. Our town is 12,000.
