Satanists & Atheists Vie For Space In Florida Capitol
CBS Local ^ | December 11, 2013

A new display proposed for the Florida Capitol rotunda may leave you asking if the devil made them do it.

After the state agreed to allow a private Christian group to put up a nativity scene and a private group to put up a Festivus pole made up of empty beer cans; more groups are applying to put their own displays in the rotunda.

The latest filings for a Capitol display are from the Satanic Temple and from the Tallahassee Atheists, according to the News Service of Florida. The Satanic Temple hasn’t said what it would put on display in a 5-foot-by-5-foot poster, but said it would include “religious symbols and images that adhere to community standards,” according to the NSF.

Tallahassee Atheists have asked for a 4-foot-by-5-foot sign that reads, “Happy Holidays” and “There are many reasons for the season, celebrate the one that you choose,” the News Service of Florida reported.

Meantime, the American Atheists Florida Regional Directors want to put up a similarly-sized poster that simply says “Celebrate the true meaning of Xmas!”

The Capitol rotunda also housed a menorah in recent weeks to observe Hanukkah.

There’s really no difference between the ethical foundation of the two.

There’s plenty of space on the hangman’s Gallows.

Based on the way things are run in Washington, it seems like their views are represented at the Federal level!

The devil and voodoo worshipers want a horned demon next to the nativity scene...

Seems reasonable.

‘Jedi’ religion most popular alternative faith

Today’s Census figures show that 176,632 people in England and Wales identify themselves as Jedi Knights, making it the most popular faith in the “Other Religions” category on the Census and the seventh most popular faith overall.

The new figures reveal that the lightsabre-wielding disciples are only behind Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism and Buddhism in the popularity stakes, excluding non-religious people and people who did not answer.

Following a nationwide campaign, Jedi made it onto the 2001 census, with 390,127 people identifying themselves a decade ago as followers of the fictional Star Wars creed.

One group is honest about who their boss is. That’s a significant difference.

I’d just say one is a flagrant offense to sensibilities, and the other is a negation rather than anything.

Satanism praises genocide and child-murder. Public indecency, anyone?

For the atheists, if a charity bakesale takes place at a public building, I can’t complain when they don’t allow me the same time and same arrangements for me to not have a bakesale there.

I like it that the Satanists want to express their religious beliefs...then we can all see what they believe and contrast it with Christianity.

Christians base their faith on God, the Creator, and his Love of Humanity...Satanist are devoted to a god of rebellion, deceit, pride, servitude, hedonism, and baby sacrifice.

The Creator gives us the right to choose to whom we belong.

A statue is not the same as the ten commandments which are a historical example of law.

That being said, while courts are haunted by satan, why dont they come out the closet and outright put Jesus on trial and show their partiality to satan instead of this “cultural” wolf in sheeps clothing hypocritical oxymoronic display of support of freedom of speech.

Yeah I thought the same. They’ve already taken over the WH with a president that claimed to be Christian, then said he was a Muslim to the rest of the world. Why would they need to go for the state office. I supect he’s really a Satanist along with his buddy, Soros and that they both kneel at the altar of Satan who masquerades as Allah on this planet...

There is only a certain amount of square feet in any decoration area. Within that space there is only a certain number of displays before any presentation becomes unattractive.

Have groups put in requests for space, set a limit on the number being permitted, assign a ticket to each request, place the tickets in a tumbler, choose the numbers that get to have space. Repeat each year.

That way you have been fair to everybody. The complaint will be, “There’s far more of them than us.” and they would be right, but equality demands no one receive preference, so a lottery drawing is the most fair way to proceed.

Otherwise, just award me this week’s mega-millions jackpot. I could use 400 million. After all, “There’s far more of them than of me.”

I’m for the satanists, at least they believe in God.

There are a lot of atheistic, left-wingers in FL, many are transplants from NY and NJ.
