You will be forgiven if you dont recognize the fat, hairy guy standing next to House Speaker John Boehner. That is former Ohio representative Steve LaTourette. He is important because he is a critical part of the attack on conservatives being carried out by the House leadership, including Speaker Boehner.
LaTourette was a close ally of Boehner in the House. Like so many of his ilk, he was willing to run for office in a high tide year, in this case 1994, but once in Congress he found having values required actual work and that was too tough for him so he decamped last year.
After Boehners bid for a grand bargain with President Obama collapsed in July 2011, LaTourette kept pushing with Boehners blessing, but without much of his help. A year later, the frustration had become too much for the one-time country prosecutor. His own bid to build support for a bipartisan budget blueprint went down in flames, and he watched as Congress failed to complete legislation that had historically been routine, like a long-term highway bill. LaTourette found his path to a more powerful position on a pair of House committees blocked by other Republicans, although he has denied this is a reason for his departure, calling it a red herring.

LaTourette is known to loyally defend Boehner in private conference meetings. But he has publicly chafed at the influence that conservative freshmen have had on the leadership, and he has criticized leadership-backed legislation, most notably the GOP five-year highway bill that Boehner considered a top priority before it failed to get off the House floor.
In short, LaTourette left Congress embittered over having his political ambitions stymied by rascally conservatives who conspire to keep moderates down.

Being a permanent minority and still having (most of) the perks of the ruling class is just too good of a deal for many in the GOP to pass up. We need to take that option off the table with primaries.
Last night the ones on MSNBC were giddy about the attacks on Ryan over this deal. They hate this deal but love seeing the GOP fight.
Bushie Nicole Wallace said she is sad to hear Ryan being abused because it makes David Axelrod smile.
that was pretty amusing.
Vichy Republicans
Exactly.
Kapo republican’ts
GREAT LINE. I hope it catches on big time. Perfectly describes the situation.
Vichy Republicans. It sums up that group perfectly.
I am going to email our Congressman (who is up for re-election next year, no GOP opponent as of now) and tell him that we are NOT going to put up with this crap by the so-called establishment to shed true conservative patriots from the brand identity.
And a bunch of those in Congress had better see that a red line has been drawn, and they need to pick a side and make it clear which side they choose.
So, that’s about 64 years in a row that conservatives got screwed by the GOP. Oh, but NEXT TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT!
Conservatives should forget about the GOP and try to reform the ACLU. We’ll still be doomed, but it will be a better way to delay the loss of our remaining freedoms for those who want to live out their days in the USSA.
Members of the Uniparty All!
They’ve returned to attacking the only known tea partier on the RNC (Dave Agema).
Republicans and democrats are demanding that he step down because he says Americans shouldn’t be forced to pay for health care of people who make choices that tends to leave them with a very expensive disease (aids).
