Ted Cruz: 'I Cannot Support' Budget Deal

On Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he will reject the budget compromise brokered by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) that raises spending levels beyond what was set by the sequester, calling it a bad deal with no guarantees of spending reductions in the future.
"The new budget deal moves in the wrong direction: it spends more, taxes more, and allows continued funding for Obamacare," Cruz said before the House's budget vote. "I cannot support it."
Cruz said that "under the sequester, Congress took a small step forward by reducing spending by 2.4 percent," and Congress "should increase that number while protecting the military from disproportionate cuts."
"Instead, this proposal undoes the sequester's modest reforms and pushes us two steps back, deeper into debt," he said. "Supporters of this plan are asking for more spending now in exchange for minor changes that may possibly reduce spending later. That may be a fine deal for Washington, but its not for the American people."

And so goes the final nail into Ryan’s political coffin. What a sellout. And to think I used to like the guy.

The Ryan budget “deal” with the Democrats is a Mickey Mouse bandaid on a gaping, gushing arterial wound. I know a lot of smart people all over this land, and not one of them that I’m aware of believes that this Republican “leadership” is going to do anything real to stop the bleeding. Sure hope we can change our leaders before the patient totally bleeds out.

Any doubt now who is the “true” leader of the GOP? As much as we lament the loss of Romney last November the truth is we dodged another bullet. Paul Ryan is a flat out disgrace, another RINO establishment type.

This is the problem with wonks....they become so proud of their 'gift' or of their recognized accomplishment. they spiral down into the sausage so long everything they do looks superb in their view.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.
In other words: higher spending now in return for promised cuts "in the out years", that never materialize.
An old con, by the D.C. gravy train.
Congressional conservatives still fall for it, all fourteen of them. Another fifty are allowed to vote Nay to preserve their bona fides back home.
I'm glad that the RINO leadership took off their gloves. They broke Reagan's eleventh commandment. This is now a war, a fight to the finish.

It’s a total abdication of the rights and responsibilities of the House of Representatives. Boehner is giving the President the powers that belong to the people’s House, and making him our overlord in the process. And now Boehner targets conservatives. There are not two parties, there are 1 1/2 parties.

I’d still like to know, from him, why he went to that mandella circus funeral. Not a word so far. I suspect a lapse of history. Though it even seems like he doesn’t figure he owes anyone an explanation.
IMHO, that stinks. As in Congress in general, something seems rotten in the man’s core.

They eliminated the sequester for $28 billion in cuts someday.
I won't move the football this time, Charlie Brown. I promise.

(Been to the line in the sand and liked it)
They cut spending by 28 billion over the next ten years. That is 2.8 billion a year. Right now the govt spends about 1.4 billion a day so it amounts to two days spending a year being cut. Taken in that context it is an affront to the American people. They really consider us too stupid to see through this charade. Of course, the major news outlets won’t report the deal truthfully, either.
