In a largely unheralded CNN interview last week congressional intelligence chiefs U.S. Rep Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) and Sen Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) dropped a bombshell about the terrorism threat.
He added that along with other Western targets, the terrorists have us smack in the middle of the cross-hairs.
His claim is backed up by news accounts which report that as many as 2,000 Europeans have gone to Syria to join al-Qaeda and fight against the Bashar Assad regime joining thousands more from elsewhere.
Thats a pretty long way in the opposite direction from where President Obama told us during the 2012 campaign that al-Qaeda is on the path to defeat. While the president was apparently wrong, Feinstein and Rogers seem to be spot on.

Nobody is paying attention to this...
If we want to be safer from AQ we need to secure our border and drop our suicidal immigration policies.
After all, they can’t threaten us if they aren’t here.
And our Citizen’s privacy is not at all safer from the U.S. government either...
I think we aren’t really at any serious risk. Certainly not enough to justify declaring our nation a battlefield, NDAA, universal surveillance, and having every podunck town having a fleet of MRAPs, etc etc.
Allow me to correct this: His claim is backed up by news accounts which report that as many as 2,000 Muslims whom European countries have mistakenly allowed in have gone to Syria to join al-Qaeda and fight against the Bashar Assad regime joining thousands more from elsewhere.
Bammy is AQ.
They can’t have it both ways. You can’t simultaneously tell us we are in deep danger from terror, no safer despite 12 years of solid war,,,
AND that its fine to have open borders, allow the enemy (wahabbist moslems) to build mosques here, to tell the Army and FBI to purge any references to terrorism in the moslem world. You cannot fly air support on behalf of Al Qeida in Libya, Syria, and encourage them in Egypt. You cannot allow wholesale immigration from Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Jordan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc etc.
You also don’t promote one like Brennan to be head of the CIA.
They don’t get it both ways. None of those policies are sane if we actually have a risk of terror.
“After all, they cant threaten us if they arent here.”
Too late. They already are here. Easily crossed the border or drove through checkpoints into TX and AZ to set up sleeper cells in strategic spots all over the lower 48.
This was during the Bush years when us ‘know-nothings’ (according to John Bachelor) were screaming for GWB to seal the southern border. But, in George’s wisdom, “Family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande, so...”
If the solution is Homeland Security (the manpower of the USMC and twice the budget), NSA, NDAA, warrantless searches like in Boston, etc etc,,,then we would probably be safer just taking the risk.
That, with a strict immigration policy, and Law enforcement targeting of mosques for investigation.

"Wrong"? No, the evil bastard was just lying again, It's what he does. It defines him.
They are already here, in droves.
But I agree, seal the border before uglier things come over.
Then, drop the PC bullshit and lets start calling out islam (i know, i know, pipe dream) for what it is.
Finally, open carry everywhere. The “wild wild west” was NOT wild as the liberals would want to play that up, it was pretty damn respectful and for good reason.
Yup . . . Al-Qa’eda is “on the run”in our direction.
The 9-11 terrorists didn’t come through Mexico, they FLEW in via New York with passports.
Thank you! Honestly, I have to chase back sentences, round up facts obscured under mountains of words & hype, and generally reconstruct whole articles anymore.
NOBODY can write. What happened to who, what, where, when, why, and how?
And, while I’m on the subject, the rule on when to use the word “fewer” and “less” is lost forever, isn’t it. Millionaire prime time pundits don’t know, either, proving it almost daily.
U.S. not safer from al-Qaeda
They’ll need to raise the tax rates and concoct several thousand new laws to help combat the waves of airliners full of Muslims being allowed in daily.
True, but that has nothing to do with what I posted nor does it refute what was my point.
And speaking of which, what is your point anyway?
You sir, are wrong. I've been in the intelligence community for 20 years. They are coming. Their mindset is to destroy us. There is no appeasement or negotiation possible. It is the core of their entire belief system. It is their fundamental religious doctrine. That is the debate we should be having, and LtCol(ret) Alan West is the only person I've heard who frames the issue accurately.
As for the NSA issue: it's the evidence of what I just said. They know that the Salafists want to score a knockout punch against us, and they know the threat is gathering. The only problem is: No one has the courage to say that Islam is a threat to us. Bush proclaimed it a religion of peace on 17 Sept; and that has hamstrung us ever since. When we start having IEDs going off in malls, schools, and football games, maybe we'll wake up.
But I'm here in Afghanistan, we are not going to win, and we are not even close to questioning our collective assumption of fundamental (not radical) Islam. I invite you to watch the Youtube videos of Alan West on Islam.
So, what did the US do after 9/11? Why, it elected an islamist president.
