President Obama has pushed hard for gun control this year and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has spent millions of dollars on ads, but the administration's promise to coordinate "a November lobbying effort and plan events to commemorate the first anniversary of the Newtown, Connecticut" has gotten little traction.
Last year the Newtown shooting, with it horrific slaughter, lead to an immediate national movement for gun control. But that was short-lived, and opposition to gun control is currently very strong. Indeed, it appears to be the strongest in decades.

You would think these idiots would use the California method of getting gun laws passed.
1. NEVER let the public vote on gun laws as they will turn down gun control as they did Prop 15 back in 1982.
2. Write your proposed anti-gun law, set it aside.
3. Release from the mental institutions a seven time loser.
4. Clear the way for him to legally buy a firearm, even passing the waiting periods.
5. Have him shoot up a school yard as this one did at Stockton Ca.
6 Rush out your proposed law, have the legislature vote on it in during the heat of passion, and before any opposition can be mounted against it.
Boom. It’s in.
“1 year after Newtown, support for stricter gun control has disappeared”
They say that like its a bad thing.
....Or BINGO, it becomes BAIT for the fed courts to take up, including the SUPREMES.
Glad to hear that was the blowback they got ...
How timely that the school shooting in Colorado, happened then
The latest narrative for this new shooting will fall flat. The guy was a socialist. Down memory hole with this one.
He did this intentionally to reignite the national debate on gun control. No doubt at all in my mind. Not with his Facebook rantings and what the other kids at his his high school said about his opinion on gun control. It even got to the point where the high school debate coach dropped him from the team because he was a constantly disrupting political fanatic.
He flitted around the campus all the time, mincing up to people and barraging them with his unsolicited left wing views. People made fun of him for this, so thus 'he was bullied'.
So, on the last school day before the one year anniversary of the Newtown massacre, he resolved to shoot his debate coach at high school. Martyr for the cause. A jihadi for The Brady Campaign.
The chinese are not happy....deadlines are not met.
HuffPO has an article up with the headline:
“Congress Remains Ineffective On Gun Control”
Makes me wish I was good enough to hack in there and change it to:
“Congress Remains Ineffective in Subverting The Constitution, For Now”
Seeing as how all the shooters are nut-job libs, if I could hack into the HuffPost the headline would say,
“To Prevent Violence, Register Liberals, Not Guns”
More and more people (even hard-core leftists) are starting to realize that some serious cracks are showing in the entire facade of this modern secular state. People may feel detached enough from Washington politics that they don't care that a jug-eared, quasi-Muslim mulatto is sitting in the White House ... but they are losing faith in their government nonetheless.
