White House delayed enacting rules ahead of 2012 election to avoid controversy
Washington Post ^ | December 14, 2013 | Juliet Eilperin

The White House systematically delayed enacting a series of rules on the environment, worker safety and health care to prevent them from becoming points of contention before the 2012 election, according to documents and interviews with current and former administration officials.

Some agency officials were instructed to hold off submitting proposals to the White House for up to a year to ensure that they would not be issued before voters went to the polls, the current and former officials said.

The delays meant that rules were postponed or never issued. The stalled regulations included crucial elements of the Affordable Care Act, what bodies of water deserved federal protection, pollution controls for industrial boilers and limits on dangerous silica exposure in the workplace.

The Obama administration has repeatedly said that any delays until after the election were coincidental and that such decisions were made without regard to politics. But seven current and former administration officials told The Washington Post that the motives behind many of the delays were clearly political, as Obama’s top aides focused on avoiding controversy before his reelection.

The number and scope of delays under Obama went well beyond those of his predecessors, who helped shape rules but did not have the same formalized controls, said current and former officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic.

Those findings are bolstered by a new report from the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS), an independent agency that advises the federal government on regulatory issues. The report is based on anonymous interviews with more than a dozen senior agency officials who worked with the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), which oversees the implementation of federal rules.

So Obama didn’t want the voters to have a say about his policies. We shouldn’t be surprised considering his past statements about democracy.

With the increasing power of the Executive Branch, I think that a single Two Year Term would be quite enough.

Wait, make that a One Year Term including the six Month Vacation.

A free press that chooses to be subservient is pointless and impotent.

However a free press that decides to be the advocate of the Administrative Branch of government is most powerful and far from impotent and thus becomes a partner in the tyranny of government.

“More and more, I favor a six year Presidency and no consecutive second term.”

Term limits and a media/government ban.

The law is whatever Obama says it is.

The media's job in a free republic is to ensure whatever Obama says is believed and unchallenged.

It's called political strategy. We should learn what its all about since we don't have any. The regime plays us 24/7.They never close. We never learn.

What if right now while their numbers have tanked to their lowest point ever they still have us under control and we don't get it?

What if it's almost a year before the 2014 elections and they have it figured out to bring up amnesty several months before the election? Boner has already said he will take it up. What if the timing is such that amnesty takes out all the oxygen in the air just about election time? What if this one move keeps us from getting the Senate back by just a few votes?

Any chance that happening,or every chance?

Yesterday it was the NY Times attacking Obamacare premiums for professionals in NY State. This week Chris Matthews attacked the totally incompetent “White House” (Obama) management of the Obamacare rollout.

Note the salient parts of this post, yesterday,This week

I would be a lot more impressed to see fat Chrissy and the slimes doing such noble deeds of random journalism only weeks before an election instead of almost a year.

This wreaks of plausible denyablity for next Sept and Oct. when they bash our side for every tiny little evil deed we are doing. We can't trust the driveby media ever.

Evidently whoever wrote this story had a slow day at the office and had to do something to kill time. while the bulk of the story is factual and they did hold off until after the election, this effort was an exercise in futility. They did not have to do this. Why? Because every idiot, parasite, self hating White, and traitor that intended to vote for Obama would have done so anyway. Even the much worshiped so called “independent moderates” who are nothing more than Obama worshipers who do not have the courage to publicly state it. Whether they announced their intentions six months before the election or six months after the election, it would have had no effect on the outcome of the election. It would not cost Obama one vote.

ping to pre-election policy coverup/lying by Barry.

Key definition of Obamacare expanded unaffordable essential coverage was withheld from analysts and voter (of course).

This is not news but the fact that WaPo is pounding Barry on the front page IS news, IMO.
