Black students at the University of Minnesota say racial descriptions in crime alerts does not help catch suspects. Instead, it's hurting black male students.
There have been more than two dozen crimes on or near the U this year.
Crime alert after crime alert describes many of the suspects as young black males.

Ian Taylor, a junior and president of the Black Men's Forum, said many of their members have expressed concern over how other students treat them.
"You might walk a certain side of the street and someone might walk the other way or the other direction…just this feeling that people feel unsafe around you," Taylor said.
The racial descriptions are leading to racial profiling, according to Amber Jones, president of the U's Black Student Union.

This is reference to an editorial run in Canada Free Press. The Canadians got it right.! Too bad half of the so called conservatives talk show hosts I’ve been listening to can’t seem to be willing to connect the dots to what a heavy hand his imperious highness played in this example of socialist justice meted out to serve the policies of the state . Turning this into a show trial replete with wall to wall tv coverage.. Taking some poor guy of mixed race including black doing his job and painting a target on his back to fullfill a socialist agenda.

Instead of complaining about facts being presented honestly, the young black males at the University need to go to the larger community that the University is part of, go into church and other settings where local blacks are represented and COMPLAIN there about what is happening in their community and maybe even ask how they can possibly help (not that they should have to, but the offer would be a gesture of good will and understanding that might lead to more cooperation).
But, to complain that to present the facts honestly is a problem is a way of just denying the problem and avoiding the problem.

That would be unfair because there would be at least a 10:1 ratio of news stories of blacks to whites being reported as perps in crimes. That would reinforce the evil stereotype that blacks commit more violent crimes!

No you’re talking! But I fear we are discriminating against other species here. Further refinement of the alert is needed: “ A blob of protoplasm, or perhaps a group of blobs of protoplasm, is suspected of commiting a crime. We’d rather not say how large the group was, if even there was a group in the first place.”
No no no. The only truly non-racist way to report a crime is in the passive voice, Bill Clinton style. “A crime was committed...”
