Obamacare graphics: Making the abstract concrete.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; Political Humor/Cartoons
KEYWORDS: costs; healthcare; obamacare; taxes
Here is the first of several ideas for info graphics that will alert public of hidden costs, consequences of O-care.

The intention here is to put the obscure, abstract language into clearly understandable terms.

I'd appreciate your critique as to Accuracy, Style, targets for distribution.

I'm late to the fight, but hopefully, not too late.

Have a look and blast away.

I think they did that for us by giving an award for the video “Don’t worry about the price tag”

The medical device industry is currently shutting down shop in America and moving overseas.

Where? I get nothing at the link. I think you need to turn on permissions or something. That or it's my FireFox.

They have to. This is exactly what happened when they slapped the extra tax on luxury boats, how on Earth did they expect anything different to happen?

I have a few old school mates who made a very nice living over the years making hips and knees.

Good paying UNION jobs.

I like.
You could add that Obamacare taxes doctors AND Hospitals to buy it. It has been getting more difficult for doctors to afford high tech even before ACA.
It has always pissed me off that the left gets to coast on all this technology we’ve built up over the years. They would never have achieved this level of sophistication themselves.

Not only that, it now takes more than 12 years to take a new medical device through the FDA process.

Venture capitalists want to see a return after 10. You literally can’t afford to do it here.

I’d like to see a picture of Obama holding a massively thick book titled Obamacare. Caption the picture, “The War on Medical Care Has Begun.”

Use “The War On Medical Care” in every conversation or post about Obamacare.

Like. Short and to the point. (No fuzzy math for the LIV to try and figure out, either. Not that they care about costs.)

Good idea, unfortunately it will be lost on 0 voters who could give flip about costs/taxes/expense/availability...as long as they have their *free* stuff...healthcare included. As long as you and I are footing their bill, they could care less what it costs.

From Michigan.

House Bill 4816: Require insurers disclose “Obamacare” price hikes in bills

Passed 67 to 42 in the House on December 12, 2013, to require bills sent to customers for health insurance policies or HMO plans to include an estimate of the amount that any price increase was caused by mandates and regulations imposed by the federal health care

You could add that Obamacare taxes doctors AND Hospitals ...

That's a good point. I think that when a person thinks of the doctor, it's a personal thing; hospitals are institutions, less personal. This is based on my own experience and new advertising pitches I sometimes catch on tv. I'm trying to make this as personal and elemental as possible, and to use as few words as possible.

...Not that they care about costs.

They care about costs when it comes to their own lives.

The challenge here is to make that connection clear.

Good for MI...lot's of great legislative things happening there. This needs to happen in EVERY state. This will let the taxpayers know what the true costs of 0DeathCare are.

Most of those who receive Medicaid, or *free* healthcare, will not be made aware...nor care.

Here’s what I find wrong with that cartoon:

Outside of our circle, it’s meaningless. People are
programmed to conclude: “Tea-bagger propoganda” They’ve been conditioned to react this way.

It’s too much information, focus needs to be to a single point. Drive it hard. Rock the opposition on it’s heels and force them to refute your claims. Whoever needs the fewest words to argue the point wins. That’s the dem way and it’s still winning.

It negatively depicts a photogenic character who’s image remains positive to a critical # of Low Info voters. Image rules.

It’s a cartoon. Only those who agree will ‘get it’. Those who don’t won’t even look; in fact they’ll get mad and even more stubborn.

That doesn’t make it a bad graphic—only a limited graphic and one not very likely to change the minds we need to change.

Humor and irony will be of little use in this campaign.

Nope! Whether it’s been the war on poverty, drugs and now terrorism, Americans have been suckered. Call it for what it is, The War On Health Care.
