African peacekeepers were forced to intervene in the Central African Republic on Thursday to disperse a crowd waiting to attack a group of Muslims who had taken refuge in a church compound.

Several thousand people stood by on Thursday as a group of men threw large rocks trying to break into the compound of the Saint-Jacques church in Bangui. They were looking for an ex-rebel general they believed to be inside.

In this part of the world people seem to be hyper savage regardless of their religion of tribal origins or any other factor. In Rwanda, most of those doing the slicing and dicing of unarmed civilians professed to be religious Christians, and I’m pretty sure some of the war criminals were also religious leaders as well. It often seems like options for dealing with the wanton disregard for human life are highly limited; even evangelicalizing them seems to have mixed at best results.

The job of the “peacekeepers” is now exposed as being to protect the Muslims against reprisals.

I would never expect you to, but in this part of the world, it seems like everyone involved in these fights have serious, fundamental issues regardless of religion or political beliefs.

And somehow I doubt these “peacekeepers” care one iota about their souls. I suspect they auctioned off their souls the second they joined this “peacekeeping” mission so it’s a moot point anyway.

UN Peacekeepers are, for the most part, an international jobs program for third world countries. Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana and Egypt are the largest contributor nations. One of the biggest income sources for Fiji is renting their soldiers out to the UN. At any given time a third of their army is deployed to Lebanon, Golan Heights, etc.

In addition to the UN blue helmets there are tens of thousands of African Union soldiers stationed in each others countries and paid for by the European Union.

Very bizarre situation.
