The man, who calls himself Bobby Thompson -- but who authorities say is lawyer and former Army Capt. John Donald Cody -- also was ordered to pay more than $6 million in fines and more than $330,000 to cover court and prosecution costs, said Ronald Brown, bailiff at the Cuyahoga County court.
The defendant was convicted last month of running a telemarketing scam through his Florida-based U.S. Navy Veterans Association. Authorities said the charity raised about $100 million from donors across the country from 2002 to 2010, but little went to help veterans, The Plain Dealer newspaper of Cleveland reported.

Knew this man 34 years ago. Pompous & arrogant. University of Virginia ROTC grad. Army intelligence officer presumably & coincidently suffered radiation injuries to his eyes. Onwards to Harvard law school and graduate school in the Philippines. Known for a pomp adore hair style and constant use of eye drops. Thereafter he settled in Arizona to chase ambulances. Ripped off some folks then went underground for 16 years.
Yup. HE Was wanted by FBI. ESpionage. A snowdenesk character. He knows stuff and the fibbies want to get him.

They should confiscate all that he has, including his family, if he had one, and all that they have.

he must have liked them a whole heck of a lot.
My WWII vet parents alway said how much they (and all the other vets) hated the Red Cross and would never give a cent to them. Lots of bad experiences during the war, I guess. Always had nothing but good to say about the Salvation Army.
