Schumer: Veterans Must Face Budget Cuts, Too
Newsmax ^ | 16 Dec 13 | Wanda Carruthers

It's time for retired veterans to face cuts as the federal government looks for ways to trim expenditures, Sen. Chuck Schumer said Monday.

"Civilian federal employees have been cut, cut, cut. I think there was a feeling, if you're going to cut them further, which was done, that the military retirees should have about an equal amount. It's small," the New York Democrat told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

In the budget plan brokered by Wisconsin Republican Rep. Paul Ryan and Washington Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, military service personnel under the age of 62 would take a one percent cut to retirement benefits. The move has drawn fire from military and veterans organizations.

I think (Rep.) Paul Ryan and (Sen.) Patty Murray looked everywhere they could to try and find compromise. Everybody had to take a little," Schumer said.

"They're going to have to pay a tiny, little bit into it, which they never have," he added. But Schumer maintained members of Congress should not be forced to take a pay cut. He said they have already sacrificed, since they have not seen a pay raise "in a long time," and explained most of them are paying more for healthcare insurance.

"We have taken pretty big cuts," he said.

The bill will pass the Senate, Schumer predicted, and said Democrats would "reluctantly vote for it" because they realize the threat of a government shutdown is a "brutal alternative."

The expiration of unemployment benefits in the proposed budget has been a sticking point for some Democrats. Schumer said it would be an issue that would be handled later.

"We'll make a shot at trying to do unemployment insurance separately.

Hey Chuckie, get back to me when you start cutting welfare
recipients benefits, then we’ll talk about veterans, maybe.

Dear Up Chuck,

How much of a cut have Senators taken in their retirement?
Isn’t it time?

How about the wifie .... Iris, how much of a cut is she taking in her NYC pension? After all she is such an essential employee

Targeting one group is discrimination. The military has a higher % of blacks than the general population. This is just more Democrat attack against Americans who are black.

Then maybe the cutters should face the same hostile fire the military does, at the whim of the politician-cutters.

How about it, Chuck?

“How come those have served our country are less deserving than those who have done nothing at all?”....

Perhaps you forgot that “those who have done nothing at all” are indeed the same ones that put out military folks in harms way in the first place. They did “something” alright and now expect someone else to pay the price for their errors. Damn them all!

He addressed that in the article:

"But Schumer maintained members of Congress should not be forced to take a pay cut. He said they have already sacrificed, since they have not seen a pay raise "in a long time," and explained most of them are paying more for healthcare insurance. "We have taken pretty big cuts," he said.

Because eating sushi is much, much more stressful than serving 5 combat tours in a foreign nation, away from your family for years upon years, doing a dirty, dangerous job.....you see.....

Yet, they’ll give $50,000 to make-believe pig farmers.

Washington is a den of power, money, and whores.

It always has been, and it always will be.

They will give money to make believe pig farmers and charge the taxpayer because it buys them votes with other people's money.

Words like "honor, sacrifice, and country" are only given lip service by political prostitutes on Veteran's Day, so they can be seen preening next to real Americans who fought and believe in those words.

Current serving Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty military are less than 1% of the US population. Only around 3% of the American population has ever served.

Yet, 49 Million Americans get their "free" SNAP EBT card reloaded with cash every month.

We can do the political math.

It only makes sense to cut retired military and let’s not overlook cutting active military, seniors benefits and the likes because our great nation needs the money to support our socialist way of life and all the good things it gives us like obamacare, fighting global warming and other warm and fuzzy things.

What is amazing is to contemplate this fact:

Obama's 2009 "stimulus" giveaway costs us $831 billion.

This "deal" betrays veterans to the tune of a "savings" of $6 Billion over 10 years.

The politicians who sold their soul for this legislation are apparently very cheap sluts.
