Everyone is doing thoughtful year-end pieces on President Obama. Writers and reporters agree hes had his worst year ever. I infer from most of their essays an unstated but broadly held sense of foreboding: Theres no particular reason to believe next year will be better, and in fact signs and indications point to continued trouble.
I would add that in recent weeks I have begun to worry about the basic competency of the administration, its ability to perform the most fundamental duties of executive management. One reason I worry is that I frequently speak with people who interact with the White House, and when I say, That place just doesnt seem to work, they dont defend it, they offer off-the-record examples of how poorly the government is run. One thing thats clear this holiday season: New Yorks Democrats, to the degree they ever loved the president, dont love him anymore, and have moved on. They are not thinking about what progress he might make in Washington next year, theyre talking about what Hillary might do the year after that.
My worries came home with a certain freshness after the Mandela memorial, where the United States Secret Service allowed the president of the United States to stand for 19 minutes next to the famous sign-language interpreter who, it was quickly revealed, was not only a fraud but a schizophrenic con man who is now said to have been involved in two deaths. ~snip~ That said, it still looks like very basic negligence, as if no one is keeping enough of an eye on the Secret Service, no ones checking the quality of the advance or sending emails asking: Hey, what do we know about the sign language guyany chance hes a mentally ill criminal?
It all looks so lax, so loosey-goosey.

The signs say the GOPe will be very helpful to Obama and self-immolate
Obama is a dork.
And an idiot.
Face it, libs, YOUR president is a quota baby.
I’ll take a Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams or Justice Thomas for president any day. These men have earned their position through talent, persistence, and intelligence.
Too bad you had such White guilt that you were suckered into voting for this fraud, Noonan.
Peggy Noonan, always the last to know ...
I used to love reading Peggy Noonan - but that was a long tme ago - now she’s just tedious.
Recent WEEKS? After five years of watching these clowns?
Oh, c’mon. The IRS has known very well what they’re doing and although corruption always has its inefficiencies and huge, tax-payer-covered expenses to see that everyone is paid off, what other administration has ever been so complete and effective in fraudulently throwing an election for their unpopular guy?
The are propagandists in protection mode for their messiah peggy... and we remember that you worshiped him also... and it seems your love still glows deeply within for the man that couldn’t run a lemonade stand.
I would add that in recent weeks I have begun to worry about the basic competency of the administration, its ability to perform the most fundamental duties of executive management.
Hmmm. It seems Ms. Noonan's exercise in sycophancy wasn't as good for her as it was for President You Didn't Build That.
Look at what OBAMA did before becoming president..Nothing... we elect a lot of nothings...
It is good they are incompetent! Just imagine how bad it would be if they knew what they were doing?
I hope you are addressing that comment to Noonan, and not to me. LOL.
Its not your job to think like that. It is the secret services only job to think like that.
Thomas Sowell would have made such an excellent First Black President. Such a shame.
Noonan, Krauthammer, Will: catastrophic failures in judgment.
How would anyone pay for the opinion of these idiots?
All part of the media elites.
Nice folks to have at your dinner party.
Ms. noonan turned in to an idiot a long time ago.
But, but, but. What about “colon” powell? LOL! Socially promoted general? Me thinks yes.
