SEATTLE The Washington Transportation Department said small businesses owned by white women are winning enough state highway contracts and no longer need a quota.
The department proposed this week to drop white women from the program that sets aside a percentage of contacts for ethnic minorities and women.
The Seattle Times reported public hearings will be held in Seattle, Tacoma and Spokane in January before the plan is submitted to the Federal Highway Administration.
By removing white women, the Transportation Department could reduce its goal for disadvantaged business enterprises from 16 to 12 percent.

Of course, they could just give the contracts to the lowest bidders with the greatest competence to do the job.
But that would be UNFAIR!!!!!

All quotas are illegal and unconstitutional. They are nothing more than special favors given to people who vote in a certain way in return.
The white women could always declare themselves to be LESBIANS.
That ought to ramp them up on the social justice scale.
It’s all a facade anyway. The MWBE gets a piece of a project, then hires a non MWBE to actually do the work as a sub.
So the MWBE gets a commission, paid for by you know who.
Business is mostly a meritocracy. There’s no need for set asides, other than as a form of welfare.

Yep, they’ve hated that loophole that people of pallor have been using.
Not only are white people taking advantage of THEIR minority set-asides, but it’s a double whammy when a white MAN puts his business in his wife’s name to take advantage of it.
Not only is she white, but it’s unfair that she’s in an intact marriage as well.
I see. Based on color and gender. So if a company run by “others” are fraudulent or do poor or substandard work or performance they still get the contract. Yep.
I know several contractors where the wife owns the place, and the husband is the real brains behind the thing. Also know of some minority guys that do good work, but still get the racial preference.
If there still is “prejudice” or “disadvantaged” out there and gov’t thinks they need to help, I’ve thought that the special treatment should be limited to 4 years or something. Enough to help a business get started, but if it can’t survive on it’s own merits after that, let it sink.
Heck, that might be helpful to ANY new business. Give a tax break to new start-ups for 4 years or something. And hope they go from 2 guys in a garage to 10 employees adding to the economy, tax revenues, etc. Although I suppose that would be easy enough to abuse by just changing the names of the companies, shell companies, etc.
