Judge David Turfe said Detroit-area man, Theodore Wafer, made a 'bad choice' when he shot dead Renisha McBride through the screen of his front door in the early hours of November 2
Wafer, said he feared for his life and acted in self-defense but the judge rejected this argument Thursday
He will now stand trial for second-degree murder and manslaughter ....
Victim's family cried in court as the ruling was announced
Wafer, 54, called 911 around 4:30 a.m. and said he had shot someone who was banging on his door
Three hours earlier, McBride had crashed her car into a parked car in a residential neighborhood, about a half-mile away

People were allowed to wear pictures of the dead girl on their clothing in the courtroom. Yeah, this guy will get a fair trial /sarc

It already hasn’t ended well. Now someone gets to face the consequences of his own stupidity.
Regarding the homeowner, Theodore Wafer. You are a man, how much can you fear a 19 year old girl banging on your door at 4am? She is banging on the door, maybe she even ripped the screen door off. Maybe you should take a few deep breaths before you open the door and discharge the gun in her chest. If you are worried that she is a decoy, call the cops and hold her at bay, you can always shoot her later. This man did not act responsibly and is guilty of some kind of negligence.
Regarding the deceased. 19 years old and you are driving with a blood alcohol level of .22? And smoking dope? Then, you walk away from an ambulance and the scene of an accident. Then you wander around for three hours. If you want to drink that much, don't get into a car, don't go anywhere. She must share some responsibility for her actions.
Regarding the parents. Why was your 19 year old that drunk? The drinking age in Michigan is 21. Why was she driving a car that drunk? This could just as easily have ended with her killing one or more people with her car. Was this the first time she was drinking and smoking dope?
Plenty of blame to go around here.
A photo of McBride's legs taken by police showed her left foot had broken through the sole of her boot.
So this crazy underage drunk was banging on this man's door so hard that she broke the door AND her boot. I would have been in fear of my life, too.
Alas, with our current Marxist INjustice system McBride is assuredly going to rot in prison. I hope he gets put into protective custody since word will get around that he killed one of Obama's daughters.
Whoops. Wafer is going to rot in prison.
It's quite possible that she has a few Trayvons with her hiding in the bushes, ready to swarm in when you open the door.
What would be the motive behind shooting a dead drunk and a disoriented car crash victim?

Based on what has been reported so far, it appears to me the guy took some bad/foolish decisions both before and after the incident:
1) He is reported to have shot her through a ‘screen door’. Most house entrances which have screen doors also have a 2nd more sturdy and secure door (especially in places like Detroit). That being the case, one must ask why he opened the ‘main’ door if he feared whomever was outside his house.
2) He did not call the police before he opened the main door and confronted/shot the woman.
3) He made a statement to the police in which he claimed that he “accidently” pulled the trigger. This does not comport with a self-defense claim. One does “accidently” defend oneself. This statement will be used against him.
4) In actuality, he should not have said anything at all - apart from possibly answering inquiries with the phrase “I was in fear for my life” - prior to talking to his attorney.
Based on what has been reported about this incident so far, I think there is a pretty good chance he will be convicted of involuntary manslaughter; although negligent homicide is probably a more appropriate charge.
The Mail will be happy to front this sad story, but I doubt they will give equal treatment to a story about a life saved by defensive use of a private firearm.
Agree; no shortage of blame. For the life of me, if someone was banging on my door in the middle of the night, the last thing I’d do would be to open it. Why he didn’t just stay in the back of the house with his gun by his side is a mystery. If she managed to break the door down he could always shoot then. But to open the door??? All I can think is that he panicked.

I would have sought a plea bargain to get negligent homicide or manslaughter. He would have likely been out of jail in under 1 year.
He only began using the fear and self-defense argument a day or two later, after consulting with his attorney.
The English “disorientated” has always sounded ignorant to me. The American “disoriented” is far superior, one of the few examples of our improving upon our mother tongue.
Haven’t you ever heard of the phrase “dead drunk”?

Funny how that brought gales of laughter when Joe Biden said it, yet some seem to think it was just great in this case.
