For decades, the family of Robert Horton thought he had been killed by the notorious serial killer while hitchhiking through Chicago in 1972. But, following a tip, investigators found the man living in a small Montana town, making him the fifth potential Gacy victim found alive in the past two years.
A man believed to be murdered by serial killer John Wayne Gacy was found living in Montana this year — making him the fifth potential victim found alive in the past two years.
Investigators tracked down Richard Hutton in April after his sister submitted the missing man’s name as the possible identity of one of the remaining eight unnamed victims.
His sister, Edyth Hutton, contacted the Cook County Sheriff’s Office outside Chicago when she heard authorities had launched a new effort two years ago to identify the victims.
Her brother, Robert, was last heard from in 1972, when he told his family that he was hitchhiking from New York to California.

Heard this on the radio this morning. Didn’t understand it then and still don’t now.
-How was it thought that this guy had been killed by Gacey? They had no body or murder weapon. Who thought this up?
-Thirty years to figure out he’s still alive. You mean, with reports that the guy had been killed 30 years ago, no one who knew him bothered to report that he was still alive?
I simply cannot get my head around what was written in that story. To say that it doesn’t make sense to me would be a disservice to things that don’t make sense.
There are still eight victims of Gacy whose bodies have not been identified. Since this man lost contact with his family around that time and presumably traveled through the area his family submitted his name as a potential victim. He and six other missing persons have been found not to be among the unidentified victims. The investigation has only identified one more victim.
The man in this story has been living a quiet life for the last forty years blissfully unaware that his parents and siblings thought he was brutally murdered.
I guess it would agree with what Duck Dynasty thought so we need to keep it quiet. We wouldn't want to compare it to bestiality.

That was my thought, as well. Quite selfish and thoughtless to not let his family know he was alive and safe.
See post 11. The police started some fresh publicity a few years ago to try and identify the last of the vicitms. Lots of names of people who disappeared around that time frame were submitted by family members. The police have been trying to find them one by one.
I don’t know about pi$$ed off, but consider it an untraceable life reset.
