Report: U.S. nuclear general drank too much, misbehaved in Russia
CNN ^

(CNN) -- A U.S. general who oversaw nuclear weapons boozed, fraternized with "hot women" and disrespected his hosts during an official visit to Russia this year, an investigative report shows. Maj. Gen. Michael Carey led the 20th Air Force responsible for three nuclear wings. He was relieved of duty in October because of loss of confidence in his leadership, the Air Force said at the time without providing specific details. But an Air Force Inspector General report released Thursday sheds more light into the case. It details the events of a July trip to Moscow in which witnesses recalled Carey drinking too much. During a layover in Switzerland, the report states, he bragged loudly about his position as commander of a nuclear force, saying he "saves the world from war every day." And the shenanigans continued in Moscow, according to the report. Alcohol, comments flow While there, Carey and an unidentified man walked to a nearby hotel to meet "two foreign national women." He returned to his Marriott hotel room in the wee hours of the morning. As a result, Carey was 45 minutes late in joining a delegation to the Moscow suburb of Sergiyev Posad, according to the report. He attributed the tardiness to jet lag, and said his body clock was out of whack. During a lunch banquet later, he downed more alcohol and talked about Syria and Edward Snowden, according to the report.

~~~fraternized with “hot women”~~~
Are these the type of women that female Colonel disapproved of in the U.S. military? How, exactly, were they ranked? (no pun intended).
I think his problem was “hot women.” If he was chasing “hot boys,” the current administration would probably promote him.
No, this was another wannabe Air Force officer who slugged his way up to four-star and lacked common sense. This is a problem that been noted several times over the past two decades. Probably half the four-star’s they promoted up since 1990....were lacking and shouldn’t have ever gone past Colonel.
He is a Major General (two-star O-8), not a General (four-star, O-10).
“Being a Major General, you would think he would have known better..............”
My sister was 20 years in the Air Force. She tells of an OSI general who would come to visit and order a Major to rent a private plane at AF expense, fly to the nearby city and pick up prostitutes and bring them back. This really annoyed the Major, but what’s a Major to do? (This was in the late 1960’s.)
Some men abuse power.
Being head of a foreign nuclear service is probably the surest way to have hot young women throwing themselves at you. Better even than being Justin Bieber
Of course, they are all Russian FSB employees, but those are small details.
Being high-ranking in U.S. nuclear power is the way the FSB, or somebody else, would throw “hot women” at you to try and gather anything.
On the good side, this is how the Mossad captured Mordecai Vanunu, by getting him stupid enough to leave non-extradition England for a “holiday trip” to Rome. Where he was nabbed.
“Most men abuse power, not some men.”
I’ve known some powerful yet humble men. I didn’t know him but think about Sam Wall (of Wal-Mart.) By all accounts he was a very decent guy. Yet he had billions at his command. If he’d wanted to be another George Soros, he could have been. He could have stayed alive for as long as he wanted on machines. Instead, he gave his money away before he died.
The world is full of good, decent men. I’ve known quite a few.
In 1943, Eddie Rickenbacker travelled to the Soviet Union to assess their military abilities.
According to his autobiography, the Russians figured to get him drunk and work him for any worthwhile American secrets. At a dinner party, a long line of Russian Generals would stand and each offer a toast, to which Capt. Rickenbacker was expected to respond by drinking a shot of vodka.
The Russians rightly assumed that Rickenbacker wasn't experienced in drinking vodka. He was, however, quite experienced with the joys of southern Ohio moonshine. He left with a treasure trove of Russian secrets.
You would wouldn’t you. It makes me suspicious that an officer with that much responsibility went that haywire.
I've heard tell that Generals just DON'T behave like this. To get in their position, they never behave out of line, and while they have their position, they do not waver from their norm.
Now, maybe all is as is being stated, but the Press and the Administration lie way too often for me to take their word for it.
Report: Rejected.
