New State Data On Obamacare Enrollment Trends Show How Scheme Is Failing

Most consumers who have signed up – about 85% on average — are eligible for subsidies because they fall below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (about $90,000 in annual income for a family of four). And most of these folks are choosing silver plans.

In California, just 47% of those who have signed up have received a private health plan. The rest were put on Medicaid.

In Colorado, just 17% got private coverage, with the other 83% put on Medicaid. In Connecticut, 61% got private coverage, in Minnesota, 71%, Rhode Island 33%, and Washington State 11%.

This is just another income redistribution scheme. Lots of good numerical info in the article.

And of course, while they are quoting the % who got private coverage, it's easy to calculate that the rest are getting Medicaid:

CA -- 53%; CO -- 83%, CT 39%, MN -- 29%, RI -- 67%, WA -- 89%. These are scary numbers -- Medicaid was never intended to cover such huge numbers of people.

“The weighted average across all the states shows that only 36% of those who have signed up (but not necessarily paid for) Obamacare, were put on private plans.”

In other words 64% will be on Medicaid!!!!

The rats intend to collapse Medicaid. The rats also intend to collapse Medicare. The rats are intending for both Medicaid and Medicare to wither on the vine. Single payer is the goal and complete control of the Health Care portion of the economy is the goal. Once single payer is the law and because the supreme court classified payments as a tax, just like many other countries having socialized medicine considered the contributions as a tax, the system eventually collapses. Someone was joking with several people the other day and said ... Well I once had insurance with a reasonable deductible, now I have none. I once could afford to have the basics of life. Now I have a tremendously high deductible and if I become sick, all the basics I once could afford go to pay for my high insurance deductible. Is going to be fun dying from starvation. The whole group laughed at the person speaking; some a bit nervously because they too have joined this person in the same boat of high deductibles.

Am afraid the American People will have to restore their Freedoms. Counting on other nation's leaders to restore Americans their Freedom is akin to waiting for the return of Jesus and putin is no Jesus.

Soon Americans may well face the choice you describe or Americans will gain a backbone and restore their birthright and Freedom, or death will stalk millions or perhaps billions worldwide. I do not know what the future will bring but I do know what the present is writing on the wall. Nukes could and probably will play a tremendous part in placing engraved imagines of many on walls that used to be living breathing people. Maybe one day the museums will hold sections of wall with this being what was written by leaders. And then perhaps the caption will read ... Never Again?

See your point Mr. McGowan and will raise you this point, and this point may actually be your point in that trust is worthy of neither ours nor russia’s. If such, full agreement, except I do question (the written) russia being a Free country. For the moment we may still have the edge, though fleeting, over russia in Freedom. Under our leader though may not be true by 2016 or Freedom could witness a resurgence in 2016 for our nation. That future stuff is always tricky and unknown.

Even more revealing are the choices being made by consumers who don’t qualify for subsidies. Almost 40% of these folks are selecting gold and platinum plans. Without the benefit of government subsidies, these plans are very pricey.

So who would be willing to pay up for this coverage?

Some are undoubtedly upper middle class and wealthy consumers who were thrown off their prior coverage once insurers cancelled their existing health plans in the individual market. They want the costlier coverage because, while the networks and formularies don’t improve over cheaper plans, the co-insurance often does.

But a healthy fraction of this cohort who are buying up to Gold are undoubtedly middle class folks who are paying more for better coverage because they have medical conditions, and know that they will need to access the healthcare services.

If you plan to consume a lot of healthcare, it makes sense to buy a platinum plan. That way, through the co-insurance that some of these plans offer, you can offload a bigger chunk of your medical costs as possible onto the government.

Well, DUH! This is basic microeconomics at work. It's the predictable result when a bill with huge economic impact is written by people with absolutely no business experience.

You are wrong on one count. This entire debacle has been about signing up more people for Medicaid, yes...even those that would have normally been considered somewhat middle class.

It is for the purpose of asset forfeiture; they want the real estate and assets of the middle class. They will continue to escalate the costs of both health care AND insurance until NO ONE can afford it. Then, we will magically all find ourselves on Medicaid (not some new single-payer plan) with increased taxes, terrible healthcare, and without the laws about asset forfeiture having been changed.

I also expect them to sneak something in to an upcoming law making medical bills "unbankruptable"...so that even if you have one of the new plans with huge deductibles your assets will be taken when you find yourself with a $30,000 hospital bill and no way to pay it.

They have been doing this for years with the elderly who are in nursing homes. They spend down the assets to pay for the care, then go on Medicaid; then when the person passes away the remaining assets are used to pay "back" the bills. WHICH IS FINE...everyone knows this, and the nursing homes/social services make it very clear.

This is a whole other thing entirely. Forty and fifty year old people, who are being shuttled into the Medicaid program have no idea that their assets are subject to this. But, you can bet it was PLANNED to be that way.

They cannot have the "peasants" having assets; it is a very good way to confiscate guns, ag land, and other "troublesome" things that might get in the way of their bizarre communist plan.

The good news is, that the American people seem to have finally woken up to the fact that something nefarious is going on (although they don't think much past the fact that their insurance has changed). I wouldn't expect much out of most of the Republicans; Paul Ryan's Medicare reform scheme from a few years back was nothing more than a trial balloon for the same type of thing, albeit on a lesser scale. I knew right then that he was either a useful idiot or an enemy...as it turns out, he is both.

Agree with your comments.

Allow me to add that the Medicaid and VA systems (unlike Medicare) are single payer schemes. At least with Medicaid, one can see a doctor of one's choosing, if the doctor will in fact take Medicaid patients. With the VA system, the doctors are employees of the VA and the facilities are owned by the VA.

A person in one of these programs is not able to purchase supplemental insurance or pay out-of-pocket for a better grade of care.

I agree with you that Medicaid is being pushed for asset forfeiture on upper middle class families. I expect single payer to include similar rules for asset forfeiture but I look for the rules to be broader than current Medicaid rules regarding asset forfeiture. Yes, Virginia, they are coming for Santa Claus.

I remember when the rules were three years on assets under Medicaid, then the rules were changed to five years. Have not heard what they are under zer0care but one has to know there are similar or worse rules within that law. Only stands to reason knowing the rats.

I did not make myself clear in my last post. My apology.

To protect assets under Medicaid one had to do such three years prior to Medicaid picking up expenses. That has been changed to five years currently. Have not found what the zer0care law says in regard to further changes in asset protection but since the health and human service secretary can make many of the decisions; this is maybe a decision the health and human service secretary will be making.

“A person in one of these programs is not able to purchase supplemental insurance or pay out-of-pocket for a better grade of care. “

I don’t understand your comment regarding the VA. Just because a person is a veteran, he is not forced to use the VA.

You can use the VA for service-connected if you want to, and go someplace else for other medical care. You can have other insurance and not go to the VA at all. You can pay out-of-pocket for better care somewhere else.

I don’t know if the gov’t wants to create a lot of savagely angry people who have nothing left to lose...

The same is true of Medicaid- even if you are a beneficiary, you can pay out of pocket for whatever type of care you want.

But, you cannot get Medicaid or VA reimbursement while paying more than the predetermined copay out of pocket (cannot pay for a higher grade of care), nor can there be multiple payers (supplemental insurance).
