There was a time in America when retail brawls only broke out around Thanksgiving dinner time (and increasingly earlier with every passing year). It appears that's no longer the case as the recent release of the Air Jordan 11s reveals. USA Today reports that following the release of Jordan 11 Retro Gamma Blue sneakers on Saturday, "the nation just about fell apart." One week ago, a crowd tore down a mall door just to get an advance ticket to buy the $185 Jordans. With the shoes now officially on sale, the world appears to be ending.
And it goes on: In Dallas, police reported to a fight in line Friday night. At 6 a.m. Saturday, customers tried to cut in line, causing a commotion that required police intervention, according to MyFoxDFW.
In the Bronx, two people brawled outside of a Foot Locker.
Wouldn’t you make more money by just making enough shoes to sell to everyone who wanted one?
Creating this hysteria, and the fools who engage in this sort of behavior are things I just don’t understand.
Especially when you might get shot with somebody robbing you for them, later on.
My guess is that the video will confirm that there is a common denominator.
Pass out arms at Footlockers. Lets clean house.
This is something I’ve never understood.
You’ve got to have a fairly lowly existence for something like shoes to mean that much to you.
Gee, what a surprise. Toss ‘em a couple knives...
What kind of mentality does it take to fight and even murder over cheap stupid sneakers? My goodness if that was the height of happiness in my life...
Won’t make an effort to feed their kids but they will kill for a damned pair of sneakers!
Poverty rears its ugly head once more in America. They can’t afford to buy food and pay their medical bills and need the taxpayers to do that for them. Air Jordans? No sweat! They have the money for them and the latest “smart phone”.
Was Chumlee onsite or in the mix.
FR really needs a “Like” button.
The damned democrats would never lose an election!
Oh great -— now you’ve done it. They’ll be on that one tomorrow. For Hillary.
The truly sad part is -— IT WOULD ACTUALLY WORK.
I gots get me som dem shos! Day be taken dem EBT cards?
If that isn't some overcooked hyperbole I don't know what is.
poverty doesn’t spend $200 on sneakers
$neaker$ for $ucker$. Its not like we have a shortage of either one$ I could buy 4 good quality pairs at that price.
Well, we’ve seen this happen dozens of times before. Sneakers, hot toy of the season (Beanie Babies, Cabbage Patch Dolls, etc.), and so on.
It really saddens me to see so much nonsense over something that is so non-essential. You’d think from these videos people were scrambling to get a liter of drinkable water during a drought, or something.
I do admit that I wish these stores would find a better way to handle these premiers. We’ve seen enough of these messes that a company doing a Black Friday sale or what not ought to know what’s likely to happen. Still, it’s ultimately the responsibility of the people coming to the store to act like human beings and not like rabid beasts. The store didn’t make anyone act like a jackass, the jackasses who chose to act like jackasses did.
I can see myself now kicking down a door so that I can be overcharged for a pair of sneakers that cost $2.00 to make.
The video is unreal...Not a bar...Not a wild party....Not a prison.....But a freaking shoe store...
Hey it keeps them off the street and away from the Knock Out Game.
They should release Air Jordans every week and twice on weekends.
Thunderdome: Two men enter, one man leaves - with a pair of shoes.
The double standard with these folks is another amazing thing to behold.
An innocent seven year old kid gets kicked out of school for doing this, and this evil bastard thinks noting of setting a terrible example for them.
Look, I don’t agree with what they do to a kid for this, but this guy sure does.
Agreed, and yes you could.
Some people earn their well deserved ‘poverty’.
Youve got to have a fairly lowly existence for something like shoes to mean that much to you.
Me either. I get my shoes from Cabela's. Never seen a fight at their store or online over shoes.
In the black community there is a HUGE business reselling these shoes. They wear them once, wait till they’re out of production, then sell them for more as ‘rarities’. Judge Judy actually had a case with a teen doing a regular business doing just that. All one can do at such a misplaced sense of priorities is sigh and write it off to terminal stupidity.
LOL, good point. I wish they’d do it, really. Only, would we have to worry about more knockouts, carjackings, etc, for them to get the money to buy the stupid things? Or would the government just add them to the growing list that the shrinking working class must provide for “those less fortunate”?
LOL! Shoot the winner, throw the shoes back in, send-in 2 more until they’re all gone.
Did you watch the film clips at the link? Your question just answers itself...
Yup...small point...worth noting...
These hood rats get their status from "sneakers"...because they have nothing else to give them value or self worth like a job
People who actually have a decent job normally wear shoes...
The same people that you see complaining about needing food stamps and free health care are the same people you see waiting in line at Best Buy to get the PS4
Well under our zero tolerance policy, we’ll have to kick him out of office.
For the children, of course.
Shoot, I used to find good ones for $10 pair — not great, but OK
...then they become “bait”....”let me see sum of dem foot lures”
Obama's OPM Nation does.
How much other cr@p would not even exist in the marketplace, if the spenders were forced by real-world economics to discriminate based on actual wages earned (their own, that is)? Besides, if people had to work to eat, they wouldn't have the time to cause trouble.
Escape from New York II, staring Snake Plissken’s son
We have the richest poor people in the world.
“a common denominator” — my guess would be “teens” or perhaps even “youths”
Does Foot Locker accept foo stams?
“Was Chumlee onsite or in the mix.”
On a Leno interview, Chum said he pays people to stand in line for him when the new Jordan’s come out.
Very well said. There is nothing that I want or have ever wanted that would cause me to behave like this.
It's a cultural issue that we are blind to because of our position of White Privilege.
