Has A&E Awakened a Sleeping Giant?
American Thinker ^ | December 23, 2013 | Robert Arvay

Posted on 12/23/2013 1:30:50 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

While the Japanese were celebrating the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, the mastermind of that attack, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, had a sobering message for his countrymen. "We have awakened a sleeping giant," he said.

Even before the war began, the admiral had warned his emperor that Japan would enjoy early victories in any war with the United States, but that winning streak would last only six months to a year, after which American industrial might would inevitably overwhelm the small island nation.

He was right. For the first few months of World War II, the Japanese war machine steamrolled over the Pacific, humiliating and defeating the best that the United States and its allies (British Commonwealth and Dutch) could throw against it, winning battle after battle. To some, it seemed hopeless to resist.

Then came the Battle of Midway, where the Japanese Navy suffered its first catastrophe, and the long, bloody road to Allied victory began.

For years now, the gay lobby has steamrolled over the Christian conservative movement, humiliating us and defeating us in battle after battle. Then came the battle of "Duck Dynasty," and the gay lobby suffered a major backlash. Have they finally met their Midway?

For many years now, the drill has become familiar. Someone speaks out in favor of maintaining the traditions of marriage, and instantly the gay rights organizations are up in arms, making threats, filing lawsuits, and mobilizing protests. Then, instead of Christians putting up a serious resistance, there is apathy, apology, and defeat. The script was repeated over and again, time after time.

This time was different....

Not sure is the sleeping giant has awoken, but I am sure tired of 2% dictating how the other 98% are supposed to behave.

Once somebody stands up to them, they will blink and collapse. Maybe Phil is that person.

I think it is laughable to pin this on A&E. If they hadn't suspended Robertson, they would have been crushed themselves. It's ridiculous to ignore thew fact big business now overwhelmingly supports and enforces left wing ideology.

Conservatives are ignoring the fact that in 2008 California voted against gay marriage and every other stated voted against it before recent elections. The reason that voters are no longer against gay marriage is that big business threw their weight into it. I don't know that either side has grasped that. People know they can lose their jobs, their status, a lot if they don't toe the lines.

Conservatives have traditionally defended big business from the left. What will happen now that big business supports the full left wing philosophy and are using their resources and might to crush conservatism and Christianity?

The majority of that 98% decided to go along with the 2%%.

If the drunks, swindlers, gays, and adulterers were to all merge up...that might take up fifty percent of the nation. So far, I haven’t heard of some allegiance between the four lifestyle groups. You’d think that the drunks would all be all upset about being denied to any place....but they haven’t said much. The swindlers? They aren’t worried about denial of entry at all. And as for the adulterers? Well...they’ve got a ‘date’ this afternoon at the motel....so they just got no time for discussion at all.

Interesting Vet...while you saw an analogy with Midway in this DD imbroglio, I mentioned to someone yesterday that the reaction to A&E and the gay Schutzstaffel lifted my spirits the way the Doolittle Raid must have for people back then.

The Doolittle Raid is a good analogy for the DD incident.

Next Stop, Willoughby

That's my favorite episode of Twilight Zone. It's times such as these that make me long to get off at Willoughby myself :-)

Folks, it’s a trap! Cleverly set by the suits at GA & E.

This opens the way for the Robertson’s to accept the relative who comes out of the closet next season.

It is all scripted.

Thanks Bobalu. You’re evidently not alone in liking that Twilight Zone episode. I’ve had several comments and even a few PRs about it.

It is called corporatism and that is when the state and corporations conspire to implement fascism through dictatorial decree... America 2013... but things will change as consumers kill the beasts by attrition. Watch a&e... they will either eventually fire their homosexual leadership and clean house or go away. Ask Cracker Barrel. Ask gm. Millions of us will NEVER buy another gm product... after a lifetime of buying nothing but gm products.

No, you are wrong. I know people that grew up with this family and have known them for many years. If they were from NJ then you would have a valid point.

Not sure. We'll find out if we woke up next election.

The only problem with the analogy is that in WWII the entire homefront was strategically united to provide the logistics. Operationally, the Japanese flattops were defined: it was intuitive what needed to be destroyed in order to win the Pacific.

It is not so intuitive today. There are so many conservative PACs, and they dillute our strength. What A&E and Cracker Barrell should have taught us is that we can win big time. But we need to strategically unite and wage total economic warfare against the left. It needs to become the manifestation of our shared beliefs: refusing to do commerce with entities that are on the fence or against us. I will even go so far as to refuse to work for liberal organizations. Duck them.

If we can bring down A&E and Crackerbarrel in one week, we can certainly put CNN and MSNBC off the air, jam the transmissions of Hollywierd, and return our government to its constitutional framework. Only then can we address our educational and judicial sytems: so in the end we address American culture.

That my friend, is a heck of a tall order. What we need is a planning cell in FR to accomplish it. The mission is easy: refute and destroy liberal theology (yes, there's always a god involved somewhere).

I'm former 2nd MarDiv. :-)

“.....Christians putting up a serious resistance, there is apathy, apology, and defeat. The script was repeated over and again, time after time.”......

And, history will and does repeat itself. Unless we Chritians decide that enough is enough and DO rebel against the liberals attack, nothing will change and we will go right back to being persecuted. Me? I’m up to a good fight any day.

nickcarraway wrote in relevant part the following disinformation inserted in his post:

“The reason that voters are no longer against gay marriage is that big business threw their weight into it.”

FACT: Voters are still against Gay marriage. Nothing has changed. From Chic-Fil-A to JC Penny to Duck Dynasty, to the failure of gay themed media to mocking Obamacare ads. We are still strongly against it. Nothing has changed.
