Obama has begun repealing Obamacare
Washington Post ^ | 12/23/13 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 12/24/2013 2:50:44 AM PST by Libloather

Obamacare as written is already gone, dismantled by its namesake. Obamacare itself has not, strictly speaking, collapsed of its own weight. Rather, it has been changed from its original, unworkable form first by Chief Justice John Roberts and then by the president into some new, unworkable mishmash. Obamacare per se is already gone. The question remains whether the law in some form will remain or whether the 2016 contest will be about what sort of plan replaces Obamacare. The latter is the odds-on favorite.

David Brooks on “Meet the Press” yesterday predicted (correctly, in my view) further undoing of the law in 2014: “The American people don’t like mandates anymore. We’re a much more individualistic culture. And every moment when the administration has been faced with either mandating something or surrendering on this bill, they’ve surrendered each time. They’ve weakened each individual mandate all the way along. So you have to expect they’ll weaken and surrender on the mandate down the line.” That is in effect leaving only the shell of Obamacare still in place, a kind of face-saver for the lame-duck president.

You're forgetting that the biggest proponents of "single payer" aren't Marxists at all. They're American business owners who simply can't compete in a global economy when they have massive insurance premiums draped around their necks. In the case of those old companies that have had union contracts in place for decades, they are also paying insurance premiums for people who haven't worked in years.

What we're finding out about ObamaCare now is that the whole idea of "redistribution" is a con job, too. Many of the people who are forced to buy inferior insurance coverage under this Federal mandate are simply telling the government to "'Eff off," and there's really nothing the government or the insurance industry is going to do about it.

Barbara Walters: Thought Obama Would be the “Next Messiah”

December 18, 2013 by Lennie Jarratt

Barbara Walters on Piers Morgan when asked about why Obama is struggling so much, “We thought that he was going to be – I shouldn’t say this at Christmastime – but the next messiah.”

If anyone devised this plan to have Roberts collapse Obama and Obama Care on purpose, it was God himself. Roberts is not smart enough or gutsy enough to have done that….but HE can use anyone, willing or not, in HIS plan.

Glenn Beck claimed to have a blockbuster story (please stop doign that Glenn!) about how Roberts was blackmailed - and I dont doubt that it is true

Read about “The Dog That Didn’t Bark” in Sherlock Holmes. When Beck made his allegation the silence was deafening. If it was not true the outrage against Beck should have been enormous, but that dog didn’t bark (work with me here, it’s not a perfect analogy)...

But I digress.... The point is that Roberts’ language the ‘elections have consequences’ was a hint that he was troubled by it and needed to hang it out to dry the only way he felt he could. I still think he is a coward for not just voting against it, but hey...

So, callign it a tax makes this a rock around Obama’s and Democrat’s necks- if the Stupid Arty (GOP) can do this right

The concept of market medicine is the one prohibited consideration.

This would be a valid point, but it's not relevant to any discussion about modern health care in the U.S. The whole idea of "market medicine" is destroyed once you introduce any third party into the payment process -- regardless of whether that third party is a government or an insurance company.

Let's face it ... There are very few Americans who can afford to pay for their own health care if "market medicine" was adopted here.

You just repeated what I said as argument against what I said. It doesn’t play well.

Not really.

What exactly is "market medicine" in an era when almost nobody ever pays directly for their medical care? Even when government involvement in medical care was minimal there was almost no "market medicine" in this country.

When that happens, it will be the insurance companies, the Republicans, and President Bush, that the media will blame, not obama. The media will cast Obama in the role of the hero. And his worshipers will believe them.

His goal is ti destroy private health insurance, and to nationalize the health care industry. He has almost accomplished this goal, and it is why he will not repeal the draconian Affordable Health care Act.

Yes, that and to radically expand Medicaid, this ensuring more dependents for the Entitlement State—which translates directly into voters. Its a winning political calculation because the vast majority of people who are paying more for less are those who didn’t vote for Obama anyway. Either that or people who cannot bring themselves to admit they or Obama were wrong.

Things will be so hosed up by 2016 that most Americans will demand single payer because they think they will be getting something for nothing. And they will...for a while as it will all go on the National Credit Card.

“....it is why he will not repeal the draconian Affordable Health care Act.”...

What is even more frustrating is the people who have the power of the purse fail to completely defund it. If there were ANY real representatives alive, they would hear the people screaming and take heed and totally defund the damn thing.

The concept of market medicine is the one prohibited consideration

We have not had a free market in physician and hospital services since 1964.

The central problem, the one which must not be named, is Medicare. Medicare is the reason most GOP elected officials support Obamacare, or at least will oppose its removal by any means other than symbolic and ineffective gestures.

In 1965, the government promised to pay, without limit, for all useful or potentially useful medical procedures for persons over 65, and some others who qualified by reason of disability or having a politically favored disease.

To the socialists who passed Medicare, this seemed like a small promise - after all, in 1964, persons over 65 and their families were not paying much for medical services, since those outlays had to compete with other family needs and priorities.

Using typical socialist static analysis, the pro-Medicare forces promised expenses in 1990 would not exceed $8 billion, when in fact they were over $100 billion and skyrocketing.

What the socialists of 1965 did not recognize was that a promise to pay, without limit and with other people's money, combined with our capitalist health industries, would create a 50-year boom of inventions, therapies, and technologies, which very few over-65s of 1964 would have paid for voluntarily and out of pocket, but which now, fueled by OPM and a post-Christian attitude about suffering and death, would soon consume all tax revenue if not stopped.

Step one was the Great Compromise of 1986. Tip O'Neill and Ronald Reagan agreed that the GOP could cut taxes, as long as the Democrats could continue to fund Medicare by printing money and borrowing. Step two, largely ineffective, was the attempts to limit spending through the HMO model(s) and disease-specific payments (DRGs).

Now, our ability to create money for social spending out of thin air is threatened, and all political attempts to curtail Medicare have failed.

Hence "Obamacare". They all hoped, foolishly as it turns out, that passing a vague and unconstitutional "law" turning Medicare (and all the rest) over to "experts" like Ezekiel Emmanuel and David Blumenthal would solve the payment without limit problem, somehow, while letting individual Congressthings off the hook.

Of course, it's a disaster, with much worse to come.

But the system as it existed after 1965 was doomed anyway. For one thing, the government cannot have a real budget if medical services are covered without limit.

If you want a free market, which, on most days, seems like the best solution to me, it is Medicare, not Obamacare, which must be repealed.

I dearly hope the demodummies pay a severe price for doing so.

"unworkable mishmash

He won’t use it. But in symbolic move, Obama signs up for Obamacare."

One important aspect of effective propaganda is it must be to a great extent believable. Does anyone really think Obama signed up for the Bronze Plan?
