Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday announced the members of a grocery store task force that will work to find new owners for stores left vacant after Safeway closes all Dominick's stores in the Chicago-area Dec. 28.

The task force will work with building representatives, gather local market data, find and approach likely prospects in the food industry as well as host tours, create marketing materials and engage brokers.

It will also work to ensure the availability of fresh food and produce and support workers who are affected by the store closings.

I wonder who can afford to open or insure a business in an area where looting is a constant threat and communists make the rules.

Typically lib -—government being used to step in and try to manipulate what the free market can take care of while they ignore the slaughter on their streets.

What an awesome opportunity. Call it Baraq's Hometown Market

They can sell fresh produce from MooseChelle's WH garden and halal meats.

Who, in their right mind, would want to open a grocery in a place that isn't profitable?

Lots of new opportunities for junkets to see how the WalMart in Puerto Vallarta, Daiai in Tokya, Carrefour and Metro AG in Eurpoe all operate.

Mot to mention stipends for attending meetings, doing independent “research,” etc.

And not one store will ever open as a result.

The Democrats create a cesspool where no business wants to operate, now they need more government to fix it. Federal grant money is probably already on the way.
