Netanyahu Defies Americans, Will Announce Extended Construction

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu plans to announce extended Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria next week, Channel 2 News reported on Wednesday.

The announcement is expected to come parallel to the release of another 26 terrorists as a “gesture” to the Palestinian Authority (PA).

With the planned announcement, Netanyahu has essentially rejected a request by the United States, which had asked him to hold off on new construction announcements so as not to hurt the ongoing peace talks with the PA.

Previous announcements on construction raised the ire of the PA, which demanded that Israel cancel any tenders it has issued for new construction or the talks would be over.

Under American pressure, Prime Netanyahu recently reprimanded Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel over the construction and cancelled it.

The PA has repeatedly slammed Israel’s planned construction in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem, despite the fact that it was informed in advance that Israel will continue to build as talks continue. The areas in which Israel plans to build are areas that even the PA has previously accepted will be part of Israel in a future deal.

Meanwhile, there is growing pressure on Netanyahu not to go through with the planned terrorist release next week, particularly in the wake of the recent wave of terrorism.

Hate to say it but BiBi seems to be all talk and nothing else..

E.g..August 2012 at the UN, showing Iranian cartoons and much talk and no action since.

The US is no longer a reliable Israeli ally. The thing I find of concern is that without the US backing them up Israel doesn't seem to be the middle eastern military power we have been led to believe..

I’d like to see Israelis building their own houses but as long as they get built that’s the main thing. And I guess it frees up Israelis to earn more Nobel prizes in medicine and science and all those good things. The critical point is that the enemies of isr will keep trying to push her around as long as isr keeps groveling and discussing things with her enemies that are simply none of their business It is almost as if the Israeli govt put a sign on its back saying Kick Me Here ( with a helpful arrow). After the isr govt grows up and stops. “ discussing” it’s borders or housing or water etc with those seeking to deprive her of her inheritance resources future or even dear life itself , once Israel grows up and just says no , we don’t negotiate out lives or our homes Then isr will gain some of the respect it deserves.

We never were a major military power. How we’re still there is more miracle than anything else. In the Six Day War, our backer was France. America was backing Jordan.

The US is no lnger a reliable ally. The deck is rigged against us at the UN. The EU is its own worst enemy, so who needs it as a friend. What we have to do is build our own multistate organization. I call it EMA, an acronym for Eastern Minorities Alliance. The major power in the mix would be India, and also Greater Kurdistan, which we will demand statehood for if we are even to consider a Palestinian state. It would require partitioning of Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran, and it would be rich in oil. Two states for two peoples, right? While we’re at it, the Copts could move on up to our border and declare their own homeland along the Red Sea, and we could recognize it as a state and form an alliance with it. Thus, the port city of Eilat would have a buffer state keeping it secure from another Egyptian war, and the Copts would be safe from pogroms, with Israel protecting it. Same thing with the Golan and Syria and Lebanon. Also Armenia, Cyprus, Greece, and South Sudan would be members.

I'm curious, the folks I know in the region have never been able to really express to me a coherent strategy other than the status que..

From my view what you propose doesn't seem possible but it would be encouraging that folks in the region are actually thinking of something different and not foolishly placing their trust in the USA..

Israel builds housing and gets stern warnings from the Obama regime.

Iran builds atomic bombs and gets praised by the Obama regime.

Something is very wrong with this picture.

“Kerry may have to have another Botox treatment.”

He is SO not designed to endure real-world politics. God help us!

And, America is making the mistake of it’s life turning it’s back on Israel. You shall see. WE shall ALL see.

Potentially. It’s not a super power, but it is a good customer for arms, and is very wealthy. Unlike the US and EU, it’s got its head screwed on right, and knows that we both face the same threat.

Looks like the political/regulator class in both of our U.S. political parties are at odds with most of our U.S. population, too.

This has been going on for a long time. Lin Yutang in Between Tears and Laughter, Doubleday, 1940, has a wonderful explanation for the phenomenon. The people never lose sight of first principles. The politicians and diplomats consistently do, because they are preoccupied with minutiae and ways and means. I’m just summarizing from memory. Couldn’t hope to recreate Lin’s matchless way of saying it. Read and enjoy.

BiBi in the end is defying his own people. Parents, family and friends of those killed by these 26 murderers held protests today in Israel to try and stop their release.

Would we release a 911 terrorist so they could kill more Americans? No. Yet we ask Israel do this as a gesture to lure the PA to so called unconditional peace talks.

Israel has released thousands of these murderers over the year and they still get nowhere in peace talks.

I would cancel it and give them death sentences. Plus I would build new housing until the PA decided to come to the table under the condition they halt while negotiations take place, and not SHOW NEGOTIATIONS but serious negotiations.

If we twist Israel’s arm BiBi should ask for Pollards release which Clinton promised to do and reneged on.

The USA made Israel give up Gaza for nothing, and made promises on security to Israel.

In the past week two Israelis were killed by snipers, PA tried to breach the security fence, others were run over at check points. This is anything but a Peace Process. Its a sham that the American People don’t endorse.
