John Kerry expresses concern over Egypt's crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood(Designated Terrorist Org.)

WASHINGTON: US secretary of state John Kerry has expressed concern over the crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood after Egypt's military-backed government designated it a terrorist group.

He conveyed his concerns to Egyptian foreign minister Nabil Fahmy during a telephonic call, the state department said in a statement.

"Kerry expressed concern about the interim Egyptian government's December 25 terrorist designation of the Muslim Brotherhood, and recent detentions and arrests," it said.

"He condemned the horrific terrorist bombing of the Dakahliya security directorate in Mansoura on December 23, as well as today's bus bombing in Cairo, and expressed his condolences," it said.

It said the two leaders agreed there can be no place for violence in Egypt and that the Egyptian people deserve peace.

Egypt's military-backed interim government declared the Brotherhood, to which ousted president Mohamed Morsi belongs, a "terrorist" group, blaming it for a suicide bomb attack on a police station that killed 16 people.

The Brotherhood has denied having a hand in the bombing, claimed by the al-Qaida inspired group Ansar Beit al-Makdis.

The condemnation of the Muslim Brotherhood — considered the largest and best-organized political force in Egypt — came weeks ahead of a referendum on a new constitution that is described as a major step toward restoring democracy since the military removed President Morsi in July.

During the call, Kerry underscored the need for an inclusive political process across the political spectrum that respects the fundamental human rights of all Egyptians in order to achieve political stability and democratic change.

Kerry and Fahmy also discussed the issue of NGOs in Egypt, including the June 2013 verdict in the trial against NGO representatives. He also raised the need to redress the verdicts, the statement added.

I actually think it would be a fine idea for Kerry and The Won to stay out of this. There has been enough damage.

But, hey, what do I know?

Reminds me of the bumper sticker against Kerry in 2004...

“10 out of 10 Terrorists Agree... Anyone But Bush.”

Lurch has always been an ally to America’s enemies.

Maybe our next Prez can ask Egypt how they keep the MB under control, so we can clamp down on them over here?

when did anyone in this evil administration and this rich ladies poodle ever express concern for the attacks on Christians by Morsi, or the Christians being persecuted in Syria while they tried to give aid and comfort, even weapons and air support to their enemies,

This is the spirit of antichrist at work in the world, this is what it looks like,

Kerry’s dad got him a wheel barrow for his tenth birthday so he could learn to walk on his hind legs. This ass-twit never ceases to amaze me.

Bush: enemy of terrorists.
Obama: ally of terrorists.

Change you can believe in.

Wow. I was (bitterly) joking on another thread that Obama would lodge a letter of protest. Apparently he sent Kerry to do it for him. /stunned, but should not be

Speaking out in favor of the MB can now get you 5 years in prison in Egypt (as of today).

Time for Kerry to go there to discuss the matter.

Hillary is not going to do that. She, along with the Obungler and Lurch, are on the MB side.

Does Kerry - did you know he served in Vietnam? - know the difference between his butt and a hole in the ground? Do we really assign responsibility to an imbecile like Kerry????

Isn’t he ALREADY silent about the slaughtering of Christians?

He’s bought and paid for - like most rats.

Heard on the radio tonight that Sen Bayh, the so-called conservative rat, on behalf of SEIU called businesses who were clients of a business who refused SEIU’s advances, and tried to get them to dump the non-SEIU compliant business. As I said, bought and paid for.
