Skip to comments.NY Times Ready to Cover Chris Christie Exactly How They Covered Mitt Romney: Badly

If you thought the political press was taking stock of its 2012 election year coverage of Mitt Romneys campaign and was preparing to make some course corrections in order to ensure fairer coverage of the GOP candidates ahead of 2016, you would be mistaken. Indeed, the New York Times appears to view 2012 not as an aberration but as a model for how to cover future Republican presidential campaigns.
The first indication that the Times is gearing up to make a Mitt Romney out of Chris Christie came in early December as bridge-gate, the allegation that New Jerseys governor sought to punish the mayor of Fort Lee by closing two lanes of the George Washington Bridge for a traffic study for days in September after the mayor refused to endorse Christies reelection, burst off the pages of left-leaning blogs and into mainstream media outlets.
On the 13th, the Times covered bridge-gate, but an investigation into the supposed facts behind that case took a backseat to the Times preferred narrative; Christie, the bully. To cement that narrative, the Times quoted a variety of Democratic New Jersey lawmakers on the record who described how their confrontations with Christie made them feel bullied. Some even remarked how Christie had created an atmosphere which invited other state officials to treat New Jersey Democrats with contempt. Days later, a Times reporter told CBS News This Morning that, as the front-runner for the nomination in 2016, the governors bully reputation could seriously damage his national political prospects.

But wait a minute, I thought Christie was (Rush Limbaugh’s mocking voice) “an enlightened moderate, just pleasing to Washington’s eyes and ears.”
Not to worry.
NYT is certain to be all over Whitewater, cattle futures, Vince Foster, Billy Dale, “for the common good”, fjb, ashtray, the missing Rose Law Firm billing records, illegally obtained and retained F bi files, brain in a blender, Huma, Behghazi, “what difference does it make”.
If they’re going to cover Christie properly, they will need to invest in some wide angle lens for their cameras.
Yep. Never forget this is “the paper of record” that endorsed Mondale in 1984 and Dukakis in 1998. No way are they EVER going to portray any Republican in a positive light against a liberal Democrat. Not even a ‘squishy moderate’ like Christie. They might throw him a token bone or two (the Times said nice things about H.W. Bush before proclaiming Dukakis the only acceptable choice for President in 1988). But that’s about it.
Unless Krispy Kreme is just a temp placeholder for Jeb.
Christie will fare no better than McRomney, McCain, McDole & McDullard, Inc.
Admin, kill this RINO troll.
I ain't buyin'.
Chris Christie should best be covered...
With cat litter to hide the stench.
You don’t have to wonder. We’ve been targeted.
Mitt "half-fast" Romney was cheered & falsely flaunted as GOP front-runner...
... so he could be similarly trampled in '12...
It's time to stop permitting the lefties to nominate both sides of the national ticket....
... in order to gain their own preferred outcome....
LOL, dude, to those guys, that’s not a bug, that’s a FEATURE!
Don't worry. Christie has powerful friends who will step up to help when the time comes.
I never think to check that. Must start.
Yes, I read about that bully thing.
Sounds like the plan is that the fat man is goin’ down hard, no pun intended.
This tactic worked last time, they'll use it again.
A pattern of two brand new posters posting Christie stories as the first thing they do the day they sign up is just weird.
This thread should be pulled. Let’s not give fatso any free pub.
i could care less. I am through backing establihment suck ups. If we are
Going the way of Rome, I say get there fast. No more Bushes , Romneys
Doles. Clear bold conservatisim. No more pragmatic socialism. God bless
Wide angle lens also reqd to photograph Hillary’s backside, likewise.
I don’t vote for Vichy Republicans.
The lardass is a pus engorged zit on the ass(NJ) of America. The sooner he’s drummed out of the arena the better, even if it is by the NYSlimes.
I am sure the only republicans that will vote for that fat liberal from NJ get their news from the New York Times.
Why this early? Usually they wait until the target has the nomination...clearing the way for sacrificial lamb (to Hillary) Jeb?
Do they still make fisheye lens.Or are they now known as the “Hillary Special”?
IT IS THEIR NATURE!
I truly believe Christie looks in the mirror and sees a handsome, sexy man.
The difference is, though, that Christie has a much bigger mouth than McCain or Romney and engages in thuggish behavior against his perceived enemies.
It will be interesting to see the Christie vs. the NYTimes show.
If Christie runs at least he will be a fighter. There have only been a few Republican fighters who actually seemed to want to be president. I make no difference in the primaries but it seems Christie would be the republican approved liberal the RINOs would want. They know how to pick losers and liberals.
