Guy says he was misquoted. Possibly taken out of context, but who knows? People do some dumb stuff.
It really irks me to see how the hate mongers have set us back in race relations in the last 10 years, or so.
And he thinks America needs to be taken down a peg or two. In this, he has been highly successful.
Condi was once a dream candidate for me until I found out that she is as much of a statist as Bush.
I would literally crawl over broken glass to cast a vote for this black man to become president!

Ditto!
I am good with Clarence Thomas.
Interesting question!
I think the first statement is prejudice (which is hard-wired in everyone’s brain for survival), but not racist.
The second statement is clearly racist.
Of course, that makes the “Boolean” line somewhat arbitrary, doesn’t it?
I’ll think about that. Good stuff.
There are many who would consider “being uncomfortable around groups of blacks” to be a racist attitude (regardless of crime stats).
If I, as an employer, fail to hire “enough” black physicists, then I am racist.
If I, as a home owner, express opposition to Section 8 housing next door, then I am racist.
If I make note of IQ differences between groups, then I am racist.
If there is no way to avoid being called racist, then I will just say “Fine, I’m racist”, and not care if anybody thinks I am.
I agree. I don’t much care what people call me if they’re going to make up their own definitions. The popular use of the word “racist” is absurd.
I liken its usage to the ridiculous phrase “reverse discrimination,” as if discrimination only applied to one group.
I was actually looking for the “pure” meaning of the word racist to try to be more accurate in my communications, and you made me question that.
But it’s probable that no one listens that carefully anyway. ;-)
So much truth in what you wrote. Being conservative allows for guaranteed criticism as well, regardless of color.
Since the word “racist” was invented in the context of Communist propaganda, there really isn’t any objectively useful definition.
The best definition I can probably create would be that racism is the viewpoint that members of your race should be advantaged over all members of all other races. By that definition, there are a huge number of black racists.
