I admit I don't have a clue what they're saying here.

You can get the encrypted information without decrypting, and know the encrypted data without knowing the encrypted data?

"fully homomorphic encryption"

Sounds like this technique should be applied to Obama's hidden downlow past.

Perhaps we can discover how this homo morphed into a straight Christian American from a previous existence as a gay, muslim Indonesian.

OK. I don’t have a clue either.

I believe they’re saying they can get any information anywhere without anyone knowing. I can’t see where it would benefit me, I’ll be even more directly targeted by advertisers and I’m sure it will make the NSA’s job easier but I don’t believe that will benefit me either. And then there’s the IRS.

Technobabel for:

We have just invented something that can make all your encrypted data available for sale, and we'll sell it to you as the newest and safest way to protect your data.

Go ahead and steal my data like you always have, but don't expect me to pay for your right to do it, assholes!

If they can pick and choose what data they want to look at, then what is to stop them from looking at all of it?

It means you can give a third party access to the still encrypted data, they can run analysis on it, but their results will be encrypted. They can than give you the encrypted results, and you can unencrypt them.

In layman’s terms, the patent allows you to keep your data private while using it without having to fully trust the guy who is storing your data.

Maybe similar methods can be used to derive threat patterns without getting too nosey into the affairs of the citizens.

Amazing what these great human minds can do.

The question that I find most mysterious is, What is math?

And how do atheists account for it?
